Our user's accounts will be protected by the "Garantie des dépôts" which is the French equivalent of the American FDIC (the insurance cap applies to each account individually, and not to the sum of all user balances, so unless your EUR balance exceeds 100kEUR your fiat is 100% insured by the French taxpayer) Each account will in a few months get its very own IBAN number, users will be able to use it as any other bank account, have their salaries and pensions sent there and have them automatically converted to Bitcoin if they so wish) I still wait for my "very own" IBAN number. This is my problem as well. I have SWIFT and Account Number, but not IBAN.

Sorry for reopening/restarting this thread.
Just wanted to say that the market: bitcoin.de/r/7ghwmw works with a bank since about one month as well. They often got pretty high selling prices compared to btc-e or bitstamp for example. There´s sometimes really a chance to make a quite a bit more money if you transfer it first from any exchange or market and would transfer and sell your BTC´s there.
Regards to everyone!

Does bitcoin.de have an affiliate program or why are people linking to it with codes attached? And they don't have high selling prices at the moment aaaand they are a market place and not an exchange which makes the main difference to Bitcoin-central. http://www.techienews.co.uk/971487/bitcoin-central-exchange-reopens-after-6-months-hiatus/ - that is a reason to re-open the thread.

So how did Bitcoin Central wind down? It's been almost six months. Did everybody get their money back, or were they ripped off?

They stopped trading but you could log and request a withdrawal payment. I had about 1300 euro wired to me in the UK.

They are back up. I'm in with my old account, and my money is still there.

Sjå https://bitmynt.no for veksling av bitcoin mot norske kroner. Trygt, billig, raskt og enkelt sidan 2010. I buy with EUR and other currencies at a fair market price when you want to sell. See http://bitmynt.no/eurprice.plWarning: "Bitcoin" XT, Classic, Unlimited and the likes are scams. Don't use them, and don't listen to their shills.

I have sort of half and eye open for a suitable exchange since Mt. Gox does not seem to be able to supply USD withdrawals. Bitcoin-Brokers is my current preferred solution, but I'd like to have a backup. I have a tortured history with Bitcoin-Central in association with the Instawallet fiasco. My sense at this point is that they are probably not thieves, but are somewhat armature both in terms of network security design, and in terms of customer services business related aspects.
I'll pass on patronizing Bitcoin-Central at this point until they can demonstrate a little more proficiency in certain key areas. In particular I'll be watching what they do with the excess Instawallet funds that the little theft windfall dropped on their doorstep, and I'll be watching to see if they actually do peruse the theft as a crime. Remember that O.J. Simpson retained a private investigator to 'hunt down' the perp who murdered his ex-wife after he was acquitted. Probably exactly zero members of the general public found that very convincing while probably 50% of the Bitcoin community would happily take Bitcoin-Central's word that they were perusing a criminal investigation into the Instwallet theft.

That's right. Bitcoin-central is a bitcoin exchange marketplace where funds (euros) are deposited to a regulated payment account while bitcoin.de is what is usually referred to as an OTC marketplace. The main difference is that whenever a trade is executed on bitcoin-central, the fiat currency balance of the seller is credited immediately with the proceeds and the bitcoins are delivered to the buyer. Conversely, with an OTC mecanism, both the buyer and the seller must wait for the buyer's fiat currency amount to reach the seller's bank account. Meanwhile the bitcoins of the OTC seller are tied up.

Let's see how fast customers will come back... This exchange looks very promising, even though they had a series of security breaches earlier this year. They provide information in a way that is imho model to bitcoin exchanges - corporations in general. That stated, they fail in: - providing a HTTP API
- looks like one has to verify again (documents lost??)

IIRC no one never had verified a proof of address.
