The one thing great about HODL is the passionate community behind it, and a community that is passionate is worth its weight in gold.

It seems like some kind of consensus could be reached that would make both sides happy.

One thought that crossed my mind is a random time that a mined block is held for staking, say in the range of 20-365 days.

I think we just need more ideas

Hodl coin is one of the few type of coins that allows you to mine with low/mid-end cpu and still see
blocks within a day.

Those who have powerfull GPU's are mining something else, and are not the intended audience.
Alternatives like europecoin only give 1 coin per found block. (not much of an incentive at the moment)
Hodl has in my opinion one of the best blockexplorers i have seen among the altcoins.
Yes it has a community that cares, not all of us are looking for quick profit scheme's.
The main focus of the coin is on term deposits, i for one think the latest
fork was a good idea, and I don't miss botnets and coin dumpers.

Hodl is unique and should stay that way.

NOPE. Not a detailed explanation. Because someone "tells" you it is unique doesn't mean it is. You need to back it up with proof.

Everyone should have known that the price of this coin would go down 99% from what it was at the beginning.  No coin can survive with such high interest rates.  People get excited when they see the high rates but then what happens every single time is the price tanks.  So no you don't make .33% interest everyday and you won't be rich from this coin, but what you will have is a giant bag of HODL that are nearly worthless, with no liquidity.
By the time my term depsoit is up next April I wonder if the network will still be running? What do you guys think?

Maybe all Hodl's could pay a few dollars a month to sustain the project? How about a website where HODL's could sign up and pay monthly fee?

An expert marketer needs to come onboard - there needs to be an incentive motivation for people to want to own HODL coins. How about an online website that sells digital products but only accepts HODL coins? I think everyone needs to be thinking about how to bring HODL to the mainstream man on the street --- anyway just rambling

Those are good ideas, but how are you going to get those things done with no budget?

How about asking the members who have Hodled coins and who have a serious interest in the future success of this coin if they would be willing to make a monthly contribution to fund it - website, promotions etc.?I do not know how big a budget is needed? Contributions could be made with Bitcoin, credit card, PayPal etc. This seems the simplest and easiest way if HODL coin owners agree - set up something where members could put their first name or online name and say how much they would be willing to contribute a month $3 , $5 or $7? I live in a country bordering Russia and a lady on the bus handed me a pamphlet about One Coin but it was in Russian - it seems that One Coin is doing some massive promotion and gaining public interest and support. I think that HODL coin has potential to generate massive interest especially with the 12 month interest rates still being so high if people were aware of it - it also needs a real world connection of some kind???

At this rate and with all the problems the fork did in Feb/Mar you will have a lot of zero-value-coin (as me). I'm sorry for the devs but this fork was a really bad move, done without too much attention and probably the one which will declare the death of this coin. I hope to be wrong.

I am not bagholder. I have 1250 coins that are not in deposit and mined 4 block that will mature to 3300 coins next year. Cause of that i stopped solo mine and YES i will move

from this coin. This lock period is like when you get paycheck for you job and go to bank to raise it but bank told you hey we deposit that money for you with intrest for ONE year, sorry you cant raise your paycheck,

The mining is always easier. That shows me that the interest of the user decreases.
It is also boring if there is no choice and the coins 1 Janr Create MUST. Too bad. 

The Hardfork has the Hodl seriously damaged. The vote was shit. The Dev has a supposedly "democratic and cooperative measures" subject and broken its own rules. That was not good. Trust is most important.

Thanks Denis, you're exactly the non-hodling miner we're trying to get rid of. It's nothing personal, I'm sure you're a good guy and you've got your objectives and needs for mining. You're just not the kind of HOdling miner the coin needs right now.

And that's fine, the only thing that confuses me is why non-hodling miners keep coming back to tell us that they are not here anymore as if that's a problem. We were trying to get rid of miners who need liquidity for dumping - I thought that was clear.
