I think the first sdk will be running on testnet within a few weeks, and a beta release on mainnet by probably end of Q2.
We just launched the new sprint core to testnet this morning.... so...

this banner contest was an initiative of a delegate and not an official Lisk thing. It shows, the Lisk community has a lot of active members. And these members are interested in increase the popularity of lisk to a greater mass of users. Of course, these people don't have huge amounts of money for marketing and PR but they do it with their possibilities and ideas. Better than doing nothing.

There is no other crypto-coin community quite like Lisk; and if he sat and pondered why there are so many projects by the community at large and not just headquarters, he may just realize that something really cool is happening.

People seem to get upset when actually seeing a crypto-community pull together and rally behind what they believe in;
because it literally confuses the hell out of them!  

Imaging what will happen inside the blockchain space when 3 million Javascript programmers realize that they easily turn their own creations into interactive, immutable blockchain apps!

On the occasion of the next Turin meetup,  LIG are collecting free contributions, from today until 20/02, in Lisk on FULIG Fund, to support this LegaAmbiente initiative for the earthquake victims in central Italy, thanks to multisig bitcoin provided by Helperbit. Over the past year we have seen Lisk evolve from its original Crypti code base into what we have today. The core has grown from its original SQLite implementation to the current PostgreSQL implementation. It has grown by thousands of lines of code, but what hasn’t happened is the growth of the Blockchain Applications SDK with the changes in Lisk-Core. While the existing implementation does work, it is not as easy to leverage as one would expect. Going forward the existing Applications SDK will be deprecated and archived.
Why are we doing this?
We want to create a better solution for all users. In order to promote organic growth of the applications platform, a complete rewrite of the SDK code base is required. In order to do that we must shed the old, outdated code and refresh it with new efficient code that works for everyone.
There is a secondary reason for this change in direction. We want to ensure that we provide a quality product to anyone interested in developing on top of Lisk. It needs to work every time, for everyone involved. We will address the quality issue as part of our ongoing review of the existing code. The same review process will be applied to the development of the new code to ensure the quality remains high.
When will this happen?
As part of the 0.6.0 release we will be removing the Applications directory link from Lisk-UI. This change is aimed at reducing confusion about the availability of the application’s platform itself. We feel it’s important to offer these features when they are ready, instead of offering a potentially confusing experience for developers and users. The Blockchain Applications API will still be available for anyone willing to try and implement an application on the previous code, but we cannot guarantee full backwards compatibility between the new SDK and the old SDK.
Changes to the Roadmap.
As part of this process we will see some revisions to the phases of the Roadmap. Initially, we had planned to stabilize the existing SDK. After extensive study we have concluded that this is not the correct path to take. As such we will revise the Roadmap and provide further information about the revision at a later date.
How can you help?
Send us your ideas and offer suggestions on functionality you would like to see implemented into the platform. We make Lisk for everyone’s benefit and it’s important for us to get your feedback in order to grow the platform to support all use cases. As always, we welcome pull requests that offer improvements in this realm as well.

As part of these efforts we plan to focus our efforts on the new SDK and ensuring that the quality meets not only our standards, but the standards of developers who wish to use our SDK. While much of this work is still in the conceptual stage, it is important to ensure the platform is very well thought out and will cover the majority of cases we think it will be used for. This has nothing to do with a development setback, just a re-adjustment of the roadmap. Which will likely happen every few months anyways.
