Hey guys! No FUD here, but I heard this is the next big thing here. Like, Ethereum status market cap stuff. Where can I find more info on Elastic. I only have minimal info. Thanks!

ethereum is a one of the biggest hype in crypto currency history.
even they have some innovations..but it's a biggest hype ever.

XEL has some real stuff, just need some marketing,so people can release XEL is as good as Ethereum.

Its a bug confirmed by EK. Try with locally installed node.

If and when a leader to this project is elected, i think it will be most advisable if it is only someone with proven reputability, trust, and credentials. Such individuals are seldom found and are hard to come by, nevertheless, I have confidence that it can and should be done.

Is it possible again to run a public testnet / testnode ?

Last time I tried the blockchain couldn't downloaded from the seednodes.

But presumably that will have to be someone from within this project and that doesn't give a lot of candidates.

Let me know what you think.  Wink

I think
a) that it is sweet to see that my first "idea" was not so bad after all
and
b) that
Code:
Largest error: 1.94385646144
seems hard to beat
and last but not least
c) that I hope to get the one or another improvement suggestion from you, even after the contest ist over and we have seen this method "in action" in the upcoming 0.9.0 testnet  Wink

Hunterminercrafter:
Largest error: 1.89787520814

L'oracle (PM submission from 07:42:50 PM, someone can verify this in my account if wanted):
Largest error: 1.89720766492

My own one (shame on me)
Largest error: 5.31689202348

VeryNewMember:
Largest error: 5.9709180146

Here, all algorithms in zipped form. Change the first line in tester.py to evaluate a specific submission:
http://www.xup.in/dl,17161517/retarget_algorithms.tar.gz/

Does that seem correct so far?
Unbelieveable, how close the two best submissions were.

If everyone agrees with the result, I would need loracle's BTC address to get rid of my hard earned BTC.  Wink

So EK,the winner "idea" be used in elastic now?

SONM - Supercomputer Organized by Network Mining (GRIB technology)
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1763166.0

see page 19 https://github.com/sonmio/sonmproject/blob/master/Sonm-wp.pdf

So, they expect (or rather hope) to get to the market faster than XEL?
Well, either they're almost ready with their product, or they have no clue what's going on here.
I think the latter, since they probably checked elastic-project.com website only, and not this thread.

I went over there and mentioned this forum.  Maybe they'll join in.

thanks for mentioning this forum for us and might be they will join now.

I think in Long Run, it's the Coin specifications and functions that's able to perform is important rather than order of being listed in the exchanges. IMHO

That's a good thing from my POV . Now , every exchange will want to list a completed project that is similar to Golem . And now the marketcap for XEL will be even more higher . Golem marketcap is more than 30 millions , what would be the marketcap for a finished project Wink ?

I have to say, i was surprised to see polo adding golem...
On the one hand the fact that Golem reached such market cap is good for XEL and can pull it higher in valuation. On the other hand i dont know how polo adding them will influence the chances of being added as well (yes, personally i would be happy to see xel added there). I hope they can look at the tech, dev work and community and understand how great xel is right now. The fact golem raised a big amount of $ and have a big team and structured chain of command can be seen as a plus for some i guess...
I think xel should reach a minimum market cap of 25 mill and can top that of golem for the very simple fact we have a functioning system in the last stretch of development.

Poloniex goes for profit and profit alone. I don't blame them, that's their job. Golem is at the moment not much of a risk, speculation-wise: right now, all golem is is a bunch of tokens without actual usability. Development seems to run slow but steady, so it is not dead either, which makes it perfect for daytrading.

We should not expect to be added to poloniex anytime soon or at all. The organisational structure of XEL is too "informal", I guess. Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with it being the way it is. But interestingly enough, at the moment, most bigger projects are focussed on few known personalities. I don't really know what to make of it, since it sounds like an antithesis to the whole being-decentralized-thing, but maybe I'm wrong (and, to be honest, XEL is not that decentralized in that regard. We lean heavily on few coders).

Once the Elastic network is live, should we make some kind of contest, to spread awareness? Something like the travelling salesman problem*, where participants have to exclusively use the Elastic Network to solve a given problem and the one getting the best results wins?

If yes, what does he_she win? BTC? XEL?

*I'm still thinking about making the Elastic Network play chess against itself. Or Go, or tic-tac-toe or whatever Smiley

if Golem has $25 million market cap with 1 billion shares, XEL with 100 million shares should have much more market cap . Please feel free to correct my calculations!

These are fine ideas, a competition will be nice. I am sure there are several directions to raise awareness and increase outreach and traction.
I would love to see serious scientists and academia using this system to answer real need for computational resources in their work.
