Does it make sense to believe that Bitcoin could one day be replaced by another cryptocurrency, that is, a cryptocurrency that really does make Bitcoin obsolete?
It does make sense because anything can happen in this world we live in. But I personally don't think that another crypto currencie will make the Bit[Suspicious link removed]bselete. The Bitcoin is to big to let that happen now

The Bitcoin is to big to let that happen now It seems to me that in this case the longer the currency is in use the more likely she is to stay. Can become outdated principles of supply of bitcoin, but the bitcoin will live long. At least until he declared war on the Federal reserve system of the USA.

Although Bitcoin is slowly growing in popularity, despite all of its various problems, there remains a certain psychological security in a currency held in one's hand. Moreover, fears of hacking, viruses, and other attacks on the entire financial foundation of a nation via purely digital means will likely make most nations slow to adopt such a form of currency.
Bitcoin is not slowly growing in its popularity. It becomes more popular than before. The important thing to know about bitcoin is the characteristics, the benefits, and its advantages. The first reason that Bitcoin has a vast advantage over newer cryptocurrency is their network effect. What if you are a buyer o seller? What will you choose? A bitcoin or other cryptocurrency like litecoin? Because of the power and popularity of bitcoin, you/they will choose bitcoin. The stability is one reason why they choose bitcoin. Bitcoin will not be replaced by another cryptocurrency. Nothing will stable in the real world, who knows coming days the Bitcoin price may go down and it will go below 100$. We can not predict the digital currency market. Anything can happen in this market. But as per now, the Bitcoin is ruling digital currency world. And it reached the highest value. No other crypto will reach this price. So the bitcoin is famous.

impossible in this century because when we take name of cryptocurrency then we talk about bitcoin first then we come to eth, doge and whatever and the best part is that we compare value of other crptocurrencies with bitcoin
Exactly, bitcoin is already name of crypto and it is more popular, trustful and first crypto currency name of Bitcoin. So the question will be Why bitcoin need to replace by another crypto currency? Even no one any other cryto currency is here to comparative with Bitcoin. No chance.

Other currencies can co-exist but I think that Bitcoin will ever be the first one and more and more people will use Bitcoin since Megaupload 2.0 and Bitcache will be launched probably this year.

I dont think so because, bitcoin is the father of all the cryptocurrency there. As time goes by bitcoin's value continues to get higher and higher. Many people get imterested in it.Therefore they have been invested to it , in order for them to go with the flow.

The answer is YES. Another trendy "e-currency" will arrise soon... Some got the innovation power. I tend to belive knowing them all. Watched dozens. The key ingredients to dethrone Bitcoin include highest throughput and some privacy concerns. However current mempool overloads seem to be orchestrated and there are mixing services available, accessible via TOR so this point doesn't really score. At the end of 2017 I do exspect the scaling debacle to be resolved, just my feeling.

The fact is you really cannot forecast a distant future but in the realm of things bitcoin cannot be replaced by another cryptocurrency, but you cannot really predict what the future holds for bitcoin twenty years from now.New currencies are coming but for the moment nothing will overtake bitcoin for a long time.

To believe (e.g. to be certain) something like that does not make rational sense. To say that is a statistic probability makes much more sense. However, this has been discussed over and over again. In order for the cryptocurrency space to thrive, it would be most suitable if there were multiple coins at the top and not just one (as currently Bitcoin is). Nobody can say that either one will happen for sure; they would only be speculating.
Bitcoin for now is upgrading and its value increases dramatically so thinking that bitcoin would be replaced by other crypto-currencys thats imposibble for know. We all know that bitcoins value is depending to the support of people so many people continue to choose bitcoin than any other crypto-currency. That is the fact and when bitcoin becomes more popular many buisness will be open on accepting bitcoin so it may be the future ot bitcoin. It cant be replaced by any other. Because bitcoin is just starting to grow more. Also because we are addicted of using bitcoin and use it rather than using any other currency we are unknown of. This is the main factor bitcoin will not be replaced !

But Bitcoin has a huge user base and this is a big advantage. Bitcoin is not ready to replace all forms of currencies and fiat money at the moment. The question perhaps is, will Bitcoin be replaced by a better version of it, or by something that is very different and revolutionary; Something that offers many additional features that Bitcoin lacks. There could be some new innovative currency that could have such properties, and that could replace Bitcoin.

Of course not. Bitcoin is clearly a protocol for sending value around the internet.

I don't think this will happen, at least not very soon. There are many attempts to compete with Bitcoin but with no success. ETH and Monero are not that bad but still without any chances to replace Bitcoin. The thing is that no other cryptocurrency hasn't succed to achieve such value and acceptance and to be useful in real world like Bitcoin.

There could be some new innovative currency that could have such properties, and that could replace Bitcoin The empathized part is the key point here It should be something really conceptually different and revolutionary. Just adding new features or fixing minor issues (and even not so minor) won't cut it. For example, Litecoin was the first altcoin out there so we had a pristine environment to evaluate its success and failure. It was basically the same Bitcoin only on juice. It confirms transactions 4 times as fast and has bigger block size at that (thus no transaction jams). So it should have overcome Bitcoin, but that didn't happen. It is obvious that being the first to appear comes bundled with great advantages which are hard to overcome

at this rate it seems like t's already happening right now.
bitcoin is losing market share at a rapid rate.
I should have bought some altcoin back then, would have made quite a good ROI At least I bought some now. Since this debate is far from over, I guess the altcoin market has still a lot of headroom.

Yes, of course, until now Bitocin still the main currency of cryptocurrency and it will not be possible there are other coins that will replace Bitcoin. Time ticking, business and innovation must continue to be done and it will be more interesting. Lest there where the saturation point will ruin everything.

I believe on the same thing. There are already so many resources invested on Bitcoin and there are many influential people willing to defend Bitcoin due to vested business interests...compared to any other cryptocurrency. However, as in anything, nobody can really predict the future. One thing for sure is that this is a very competitive industry and any other altcoin is always ready to take the mantle leadership if there is a vacant one.
