just a long shot but could it be something to do with the "headless" implementation in smOS?

What do you mean "headless" implementation? As far as I can tell the headless issues are due to the motherboard bios and have nothing to do with the OS?

most OS need a active video line into the gpu to signal it has something plugged in or OS doesnt "use" it to say
like windows if you run a dummy plug in it. its ten times easier to get 5-7 gpus running without to many issues
linux you can setup a script that will "trick" the OS into thinking it has an active video line into the gpu hence "headless"
smOS is a headless linux OS

An active video line helps the OS see it has another means of video other than the on board video from the cpu or motherboard

little side note.. headless also includes keyboard and mouse not just the monitor

As I see a super coin as the super highway and alt coins as taxis and trucks needed to move transactions. ~philipma1957

Try changing pool to something else.
Use nearest pool servers (EU vs USA)
There is a guy also from poland which made own pool: http://ethpool.pl/ - this pool gives much more profit than standard ones. I am mining there for 3 months without any problems.
Payments are done 2 times a day.
I cant guarantee this pool becasue i dont know wery well this folk but its working 4 months now without problem and bringing more profit than other pools:)
You can test it and compare results with other pools Smiley (its  like 2-10% more profit)

IMHO, you need the overall effective hash rate to be at least the same close to the hash reported to mining pool, to conclude if pool is good or not; that usually take a day or two.

I just dont have time to do all things and cover 100% needs of my clients. I an tryng to cover 80-90% needs Tongue

And flashed under windows to pendrive ?
Can you redownload and flash to other pendrive ? Meaby something went wrong in downloading or writing image ?
Also you can try writing image again.

Nope, this doesnt work either....
Stops on the 3rd second: "cannot find any crtc or sizes, going 1024x768"

Will, try to redownload the original rom.

--------
i guess its because that rig that im testing your os on, has r9 270x gpu, not the rx model.. thats why it didnt work.

Ok, so now, everything is booting fine.
But there seems to be, some lan driver problems.

In the console while its loading, i can see this info :
Waiting for network configuration...
Waiting for network configuration 20 seconds more..

This is the board that im using, gigabyte ga-970a-ud3p.
Can we fix this?

Hello Tytanick,

I'm using your OS, its working pretty nice... so good job to you.
Anyway i'm having some issues with 1 of my cards constantly getting "GPU1 hangs OpenCL error" on Claymore ETH miner.
I'm mining with 2  RX 480 Sapphire cards on that machine.
I made swapfile 16GB just to be sure its not RAM issue.

So its running for random amount of time (can run for 5+ hours without problem, or can fail after 10 minutes - totally irregular).
I used the same 2 cards on other machine under windows and they were running for days without failure on Claymore 8.0 version.

If you or anyone else can give the view about performance and stability of AMD driver for Rx 480 under Linux, because i know that under windows they are running super nice.

Thanks.

Its not ram, propably 4GB DDR3 is enough for 2 GPUs, meaby even 2 GB Tongue
Linux is different and you should use little different clocks.
Anyway if this problem occurs like 1 per day then i dont see problem, just add those options to claymore:
-wd 1 -r 1
This will autoreboot rig if at least 1 gpu will fail Smiley
Anyway Hanging gpus in totally normal in mining world, if its too often then you could lower clocks or make higher PowerStage level from default 5 to 6 or even 7 , depends how much you OC.
It will consule more watts but it will be more stable.

try    -ethi 4  or -ethi 3  or -ethi 5

it you don't put in -ethi  at all

it sets it to -ethi 8  which may be too intense for the one card

you can go as low as -ethi 1 and as high as -ethi 16

I am at -ethi 12 see my command line

-wd 1 -r 1 -epool stratum+tcp://daggerhashimoto.usa.nicehash.com:3353 -ewal 1JdC6Xg3ajT3rge3FgPNSYYFpmf53Vbtje.Simple2 -esm 3 -epsw x -allpools 1 -mport -3333  -allpools 1 -dbg -1  -ethi 12

Also try -etha 2, to force rig to use amd-gpu-pro drivers instead of generic drivers.

-etha   Ethereum algorithm mode for AMD cards. 0 - optimized for fast cards, 1 - optimized for slow cards, 2 - for gpu-pro Linux drivers. -1 - autodetect (default, automatically selects between 0 and 1).

For 380 you should use other image, see here:
https://simplemining.net/

It might work but propably you will have problems.
Try it and see for your self.
