Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Hello, this is your father posting. I know that you took this weeks utility bill from the mail. Mother and I expect you to go back to your cage immediately and voluntarily. It shall be one week of atonement and we hope and pray for your convalescence. We love you! Where is the bill?

Hello all. Initially started checking out Bitcoin about a year ago, CPU-mined off and on for a few weeks, then promptly forgot about it entirely. Fast-forward to a few months ago, whereupon checking out the going USD/BTC rate, I decided to jump back in the game. Now mining at around 300Mhash/s with a shiny new 5830, I'm getting ready to throw together a new rig. Should be fun.

Hi, I am Tobin. I just started with Bitcoins and hope that there is soon a possibility to make transfers of Dollars <-> Bitcoins faster to react better to the current market situation.

Hey everyone

Hi - where are you from? Are you a female Alice? It doesn't seem there are many women on the forum. Often I'm the only female in my real world tech environments. What made you decide to join the world of BTC?

Hi Madehimself, just FYI - MWD's first definition of "supple" is:

": compliant often to the point of obsequiousness"

Obsequiousness is not particularly flattering. I know there are other definitions. Interpreting supple as flexible or adaptable (in your thinking or outlook) would be preferable, but I think most people are more mean-spirited in my experience.

Now I'm too tired to sleep having been up all night and thought I'd reach out to others who are awake/online since I'm still stuck in Newbie-land.

Really just making small talk...

How come you have 98 posts and are still in the Newbie forum?

Yes - many "guys" here. I'm Chinese too but not a "guy". I live in US. What do your Asian friends think of your involvement in bitcoin?

Hi everyone, welcome to John Madden Football I'm Nomevir, I could very well be the first
YTPer to get into the bitcoin game.

I've been somewhat aware of the bitcoin project since last year, but until fairly recently, did not own a computer capable of doing much more then browse the web and creating nouce.
My current system is vastly more powerful and quieter.

I very much look forward to help make bitcoin a strong alternative to the presently dominate currencies of the world.
