Zxian here. You can find my username in various places around the net, including my long-neglected blog (I really should start posting there again and fix that site up...).

Got into mining because it seemed like a fun side-hobby/investment. I've got ~1GH/s going on two systems right now, waiting to see how this all pans out by the fall/winter.

Hello fellow noobs.

I've been a lurker here for about a month.

Started mining with a 5830 about 3 weeks ago, and since then have become quite enthusiastic about the future of this nascent digital currency.

I'm toying with the idea of starting a new bitcoin exchange for Canada (well more than toying actually, more info to come later hopefully).

Anyhow, I understand the need for restricting newbies after seeing the forum carnage over the last couple of weeks with the rollercoaster ride that bitcoin has been going through, but I wish I could post in one of the main forum threads to subscribe http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=2461.0 looks really interesting.

Anyway, happy bitcoining!

Hi Guys,

Started Mining with a few cheap rigs 600NZD
Hoping to see a grow in this awesome currency.
Will eventually incorporate Bitcoin into a number of my online business, given there is a demand Smiley
Eventually will look into developing tools for this community and hopefully look into FPGA mining and its implementation.

Some initial Ideas,

Potential BTC Shop Ideas,
Dedicated Servers
Seedboxes
Virtual Private Servers
BNC
IRCD
All with the ability to accept BTC as payment (whilst remaining competitive to the $ Market)

Potential Tools,
Difficulty Factor Anticipator + HashRate + Current Exchange (All Supported Currencies) + Definable Duration Calculator
Poker/Gambling System between Friends
Paypal Exchange APi (As Donation so irriversible)
Mass deployment scripts for CPU Mining with Pooled Mining APi's ( For universities/datacenters etc )

Just a few Ideas to get kickstarted
Feel Free to inspire....

Hello all,

Just beginning to get into BTC - I am currently mining with BitClockers' pool, but making little progress because my GPU is absoulute crap.

Even if I spend 50 bucks on a card my performance will skyrocket. I'm on an old Geforce 6800 GX, doesn't support CUDA or OpenCl.

Doing my best lurking and soaking up all the info I can find.
See you in the forums!

Hi my name is Lee, I am here and I am confused !  Roll Eyes Tongue Cheesy

It seems like such a lot of information to take on board before you even get moving with this whole bitcoin thing, but it's all very interesting and worth investigating.

But at the moment I haven't got a clue as to how to buy even a single bitcoin !  Huh

Anyhow, here I am.

Lee.

I'm davey.
I plan on wasting time doing wasteful things with my mined bit-nuggets.  Frankly, unless someone drops a digital suitcase of bit-gold on my digital noggin I don't see myself using bit-stuff in a serious manner.  However, if I win the bit-lotto or the bit-gods send me a bit-gift or my bit-karma does something nice for me, maybe i'll play day trader for a while.  I've done it before with the floppy green pieces of paper, but I am too impoverished to surpass the needed threshold on daily gain from my meager invested capital.

So there, a post, and first post at that.  Yar.

Hi,

Recent lurker but decided to get to get a bit more involved.  I would say I am cautiously optimistic about Bitcoin and it's functionality.  Though I definitely appreciate what it can potentially do in the long run.  I am currently a quasi-dedicated miner and I hope to support bitcoin in the future with buying some actual BTC.
