Man, I SURE DO WISH I was an ATI fan and not an nVidia fan. Upgraded my PC with dual 580's a couple months ago... learned about BTC about 2 weeks ago. *le sigh*

Hi, I'm new to the board, I'm currently mining with four 6990s and four 5830s. I was hoping to respond to a thread about running ubuntu headless but then found that I need 5 posts plus 4 hours before I can do that. Oh well, one down, 4 to go!

Hello all!

Like many, I heard of the mysterious underworld of bitcoin through press articles about the now infamous silk road (which I sadly have been unable to access, if only to see the spectacle in all it's....glory?). I wish to trade bitcoin, and to perform some sort of service for which I can receive bitcoin as compensation.  This will require some thought.  Nice to meet you all though, very excited!

I am known to the world mostly as DNatureofDTrain or Casey Jones Heinzism,
Nice to meet you all here on bitcoin.
I am interested in looking at bitcoin as a possible currency to use within my micronation ... The Heinzist Tribe...

I am not so sure about that yet.. I am new to this and do not even have a single bitcoin in my posession yet.

Post a new topic in the Newbies subforum with your problem and list your OS, Bitcoin version and what is going on. By the time we get done helping you resolve your issue you should have enough posts to automatically escape Newbie subforum and be able to post elsewhere. Smiley

Greetings to everyone. As I am interested greatly in the success of the one and only Bitcoin, I hope to establish myself as a devout regular within the community. Best wishes to all of those here who would like to pursue this very same endeavor.  Grin

Hi all. I go by darkskypoet or dsp for short... I've been mining for just a few days now with about 600MHashes/s, looking to move to ~ 1GHash/s in a couple days.

I think this is a neat and seemingly profitable socioeconomic experiment and hope that it continues to go well.

Currently I mine from the Beautiful British Columbia with fairly cheap Hydro Electric power (for the most part).

Oh and a side note, if you're looking at getting more mining hardware... 6990s are not a very cost effective way of doing so... Consider that 2 6970's for around $750 CDN will get you more MHashs/hr... for a lot cheaper.

Good luck and Good Mining.

Hello, I'm a Canadian hailing from the area of Toronto, Ontario. Only found out about this like on the 8th of this month when I noticed that 5xxx series cards were suddenly selling on the hardware forums like hotcakes.

A few google searches later, I happened on these pages and the very valuable information contained herein. Thanks to you guys I've set up my single 6970 to smoke hash and push out a single shiny Bitcoin roughly every 40 hours!

I'm really just following the craze, though I'm honestly curious to see where all of this ultimately ends up.

Hi, I'm Alan and I find bitcoins really interesting from a computing point of view, both in terms of how the system works and in providing new opportunities for algorithmic trading. I've been reading some interesting stuff here, so I hope I can participate constructively and learn a lot too!
