Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

Mining about one month. Basically need to share experiences with mining software (bugs etc...) and this place looks like a good place for that...

'loes! 4th year (in Scotland we do 4 years for an honours degree if '4th' seems odd to you ) computing science student here. Heard about and started getting interested in bitcoin a few weeks ago. Always interested in internet culture and it's 'autonomy' from the outside world - something bitcoin seems to be able to aid. But it seems bitcoin might be able to spread into the outside world too, in wider use - that'd be really interesting. I guess the challenge is to come up with ways to allow people who aren't computer orientated to use bitcoin - possibly with hardware devices (like cards or something.) Looking forward to reading the economics and 'politics and society' sections - and maybe posting too if i'm not too lazy . Also interested in developing bitcoin based services / apps - although the low level cryptography stuff is way over my head at the moment. I recently made an android 'remote control' app for the bitcoin running in daemon mode, which I guess I'd be interested in posting about in the 'project development section' when I'm not a newbie. [ https://market.android.com/details?id=Happy0.BitCoinClient&feature=search_result ]. Wonder what else I could make that might be useful... Been idling in the bitcoin-dev and bitcoin IRC channels - I'm really impressed how busy, vibrant and interesting they are. Many channels I sit in go for days without any discussion at all. l8rz!

Hi, I'm a speculator. I ate my hat last month in the crash - still hanging on though. Despite what a lot of people think, though, we do care about bitcoin as a currency itself - I play the game mostly to increase the number of coins I have, given I never had the equipment to even think about mining.

Hi,
my name is Christian from Munich, Germany. I am interested in that Bitcoin thing from a technological perspective mainly.
Currently I find the official Bitcoin client lacking (very unintuitive user interface, long setup time and initial download).
Also I am very interested in the applied crypto algorithms in this project. Would be interested in working on a GPU accelerated vanity bitcoin address generator, for a start.

Hi,
My name is Boris Rarden, I'm the maker of Online-TipJar.com site, which is a bitcoin-based donation/tipping service, centered around free software. Recently, my site got linked by FSF!
I'm also a supporter of the Objectivism philosophy, which promotes the gold standard, and hence bitcoin.
I believe that the next thing for bitcoin is a community of people that can provide the basic necessities directly for bitcoin (without conversion), such as food and rent.

Okay, post number 3.
I'm running an ATI Radeon HD 5870 on a brand new MacPro, and only getting around 2.0 MHashes/Sec using DiabloMiner. The Hardware page says I should get twice that.
I tried using POCLBM-MOD, and it was even slower.
I tried using the -v switch on POCLBM, and it failed.
Is there some Mac driver issue that prevents me from using Vectors on my 5870 on a Mac?

Hi there,
I'm an archaeologist from the UK and am extremely interested in bitcoins. I am currently looking into whether it is a good investment, it's always fun to gamble on investment returns!

2MH/s out of a 5870 you should be getting a whole lot more than that, more like 350MH/s are you sure you havent picked the cpu as your device rather than the card? id tell you the line but im not familiar with macs or diablominer
