According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Hi, heard about bitcoin through the news of Pascazi's scheme to rip off the trademark.

Well, I'm from Malaysia, and have lurked in here for a while. Great to see how helpful the community is and looking forward to decentralising currency(Hope bitcoin gets widely adopted).

Hi

I have heard about BTC about a month ago.
I have been reading everything about it since then.
I decided to make an account here, maybe I will need "active" information.

Greetings!  I've been lurking for a bit and have mined a couple bitcoins using the following:

My hubby and I have quad core 860's with 5870's getting 346 Mhash/s
Our kids dual core with a 5570 is 67Mhash/s
Our myth tv pvr front-end with a 4650 gets 21.6Mhash/s
Lastly my dual core laptop with a GeForce M230 gets 8 Mhash/s (I don't bother mining with this one)

A random acquaintance of BitCoin a few days ago, I've already converted what was my hawt little gaming rig into a pretty dedicated miner. Turns out luck was on my side when I picked two 6950's and unlocked them to 6970's. If only I had started hashing with them much, much sooner.

I get my new "Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB" hopefully this Friday.

I have some existing equipment but I needed to buy a new motherboard for the 5870.  I am going to run Linux (Ubuntu) for the new miner.

I was going to use a low profile card in a different system but I could not find one which produced the throughput the 5870 does.

If this new miner works out good I may spec out a second dedicated server.

Longtime lurker, first time poster... uh... obviously.

I've been mining for the last month or so, slowly building my rigs up.

Currently running 7 miners with 28 cards (mostly 5830's, a few 5850's thrown in) that come in around 8200~ mH/s.  Already looking to expand.  Smiley

I believe there is a huge future in Bitcoin.  My former life was spent as a commodity options trader and I'm hoping to branch out from mining to also develop some good services for the BTC economy.

Cheers!

Hey guys, fellow noob here. I'm working on writing some tools for trading but I see that I have to climb my way up the ladder before I can talk about it on the other forums Smiley

I have a XFX 6870 black edition.
It is pretty neat, I overclock it to 1000Mhz, and get 307Ghps
I have accumulated about 2Bitcoins since I started.
Seems like a neat idea.

I've been hosting a modest mining operation for two months now, and I want to join the community more.
