Ahh, after nearly 11h logged in time and 2 months of passively browsing through this forum I just found this forum and finally understood why I could not post anywhere else here Smiley

So, here I am, pleased to meet ya'll! Cheesy
It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

I am a university student posting to offer my services. Once I am no longer under newbie restriction I plan to acquire various coding work on the marketplace.

I know, in order from most (quite!) to least (ehh...) fluent, C++, C, Java, Python, and I'm getting started on the web languages like PHP, JavaScript, HTML, etc.

Bitcoin is important to me because after a year or so of skepticism (including the great crash last year), I see the true value of Bitcoin. Bitcoins are a reward we get for securing the Bitcoin network-- it is not just a fiat currency; the gold standard is to currency as proof-of-work is to Bitcoin.

I currently mine approximately 1.12 BTC per week with what used to be my gaming rig before I took an arrow in th way too many classes. My pool of choice is BTCguild, simply due to my interests in the dot-BIT alternative, government-proof DNS network. I hope that my first pure-BTC purchase will be a Casascius physical Bitcoin.

I am disturbed that these forums do not allow Tor. Geez, a complaint in my first post! Sorry.  Sad

That's about it for now. Gonna go check out the rest of the newbie prison Grin

They don't disallow Tor explicitly; it's just that spammers often hide behind Tor, so sometimes a Tor exit point's IP will be banned.  To get around it, just have Tor use a new identity until you get one that isn't banned.

You've gotta be kidding me! A few clicks on Vidalia, and I could have avoided having to create a whole new identity for myself. Oh well; my registration is forever tied to a point on Big Brother's graph of IP vs time.

Shou ga nai. I only offer legitimate services anyway. I'm just a wannabe crypto/privacy buff. ChocolateSoda's got a nice ring to it. I just tried some yesterday (the bottle was on my desk earlier) and it's probably the best thing.

Hi chaps,
just stumbled across bitcoins, read a bit about its pros and cons, dropped by here and must admit: I am convinced.
My wallet isn´t yet worth being stolen but I´m working on it. Not getting it stolen but getting it worth, of cause.

The paining (sic!) is done with the QPainter class inside the paintEvent() method.

Hi all, I am pirate1.  I have been mining about three months.  I registered because I have a problem with my wallet downloading blocks.  I have a post on the main newbie page about trouble downloading blocks.  Anyway, I am hoping someone here will be able to help me with that.  I thought I would go ahead and introduce myself to help with the five required posts.  I am currently using two xfx 6870 cards to mine with.  I plan on bulding a dedicated mining rig by this summer.  I will probably add two xfx 6950 cards to the two I have in a new rig with an AMD processor running all 4 cards.  I am considering using a AM3+ board for the connectivity but may end up going a lot cheaper.  It will be my first AMD rig.

As long as I wake up breathing it's all a bonus.  Sometimes not much of a bonus but still a bonus.
