Hey everyone! I'm new in the whole cryptocurrency thing, started this week in the whole "mining" stuff (ethereum). I recycled some old parts (mobo, cpu, ram, ssd) and bought 2 Sapphire RX470 4Gb Reference (and a EVGA 700B psu)... From the box both 470's started mining at 22.5 Mh/s (Claymore 4.7, only eth), one has hynix memory and the other has elpida. I followed the normal procedure to "strap" the timings (copying 1500 timing) and now the hynix 470 is mining at 27.5 Mh/s (not bad IMO) and the elpida is stuck at 24.5 Mh, not bad either (after moderate OC with Trixx: 1100 GPU, 1925 mem, 63ºC and 73% fan speed).
My question: Do you think it is worth the risk to mod the elpida 470? I'm not so sure about the whole "hex and checksum" process and I've read about a lot of people crying over their dead gpu's... what should I do?
Actually the elpida memory performs better than the Heriox one, i have a few sapphire nitro+ 4gb elpida running at >29Mhash Here is the ROM: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1710085.0DO NOT FLASH IT, it will not work for reference cards, but i think that u can take timings from there Thanks man! A week ago I found the exact bios for my Sapphire RX 470 4gb ref (Elpida). I got 27.8mh/s after flashing it (with moderate OC)... I've been running it at 26.7-27mh/s to keep the temp low and everything under control (no BSOD, no crashes, no problems). Yesterday I got a BSOD but after playing too much with OC timings (Trixx).

Referring to this I have 2 and both of them have the red accent LEDs on all the time, and the logo LED is whitish by default but you can change that in software I believe.

The issue I have is that on one card the red accent LEDs sometimes turn off and turn back on and back off again. No idea why it does this.

UPDATE: To answer my own question here. The latest Crimson drivers 16.12 has turn back on the signature checking. So stick with 16.9-16.11. Secondly it appears that over time the amount of overclock on the memory on my RX470 Sapphire 8gb cards has slowed down. This is causing the system to flat not boot. I had to experiment with slower and slower memory timings to get it working again. So still a mild overclock on the memory, but a big decrease from what it was using and working well with. So my ROM's suddenly were not working. Retuned a ROM and have it working for the time being. Have to keep an eye on it to see if I need to tweak it some more. So if you suddenly start having weird behavior you may need to take another look at your ROM's. I still have another rig happily running on that old ROM. So something to do with the cards not able to handle the same speeds as before. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ HELP! I need someone to sanity check me here. I have a rig that I decided to throw a couple more GPU's in it. I has been running with a custom rom this entire time. I built this back last summer. I thought I had documented all the steps to do the flash, the drivers etc, but apparently I was wrong. After adding the 2 new cards and flashing them to the same rom as the others one by one. I assumed since nothing else had changed it would come right back up after the reboot. Well it turned out there was going to be a battle getting all the boards recognized and the system to boot. Finally get it to post and all the boards to be seen by the OS, but all of the devices show the exclamation mark next to them and won't load. Spent several hours messing with it. Upgraded the drivers to the latest from AMD. Still no dice. So out of frustration I put the stock roms back on the boards and finally after some mucking around for a while I got the system back up on stock roms and hashing away. So I try again this morning to flash the boards to a known good custom rom and I am back into the same mess with exclamation marks next to all the cards in device manager. So here are my steps. Please tell me what I am missing. Is there a newer atikmdag.sys file that I should be using? I am using one from August. 1) remove all cards but 1 2) boot into windows 3) flash card with desired rom, load up atiwinflash with admin 4) Click load and select new BIOS > click program 5) wait...screen will hang for about 30-40 secs 6) on confirmation box close 7) in device manager right click GPU and uninstall reboot 9) card should be redetect but now you are in vga mode as it will fail to load driver. 10) hit windows button and power then holding shift click restart, select troubleshoot, adv, restart options, click restart 11) hit 4 on option screen 12) now in safe mode replace the ati file you need into c:\windows\system32\drivers\atikmdag.sys (overwrite). 13) Use the dseo13b.exe to sign the atikmdag.sys file. 14) bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING ON 15) hit windows button and power then holding shift click restart, select troubleshoot, adv, restart options, click restart 16) select option 7 17) you should now boot up with mod driver and mod bios all working...if not you did some thing wrong. go back to step 9 ....easy way...install driver, flash bios, patch driver, restart.....done or update driver over mod bios and patch driver https://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-AMD-ATI-Pixel-Clock-Patcher

How does the 4 and 8 GB Nitro+ and the 4GB RedDevil stack on ETH, XMR, and ZEC in regard to hash rate and TDP?
I'm trying to search the thread but it is limited to get this info with the TDP. These are the 3 cards I am looking at right now but there is a real shortage of post on the RedDevil so I don't think the extra power phases can win me there

I am also researching for this and after asking different persons the final answer is 4g nitro+, also asked if OC does any difference and the answer was no.. so 4gb nitro+.. i gues... what else have you got? It depends on the algorithm. On GPU intensive algorithm you will not notice any difference. Usually 8GB have samsung memory, sometimes even 4Gb have those, but it's not sure. With samsung memory you will achieve 30Mhash con eth

Anyone have recommendations now how to push the card a bit faster with out crashing/blue screening on windows 7. I have a SAPPHIRE Radeon RX 470 DirectX 12 100407-4GOCL 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card. Memory is Hynix 4 GB I flashed the bios with making changes only to the On TIMING (MHz) area 1500 to 1625, 1750 and 2000. Downloaded TriXX and made first adjustments based upon some videos of GPU/Memory Clock of 1050/2000. This was not stable and crashed. Now Im sorta stuck in the close to 26 Mh/s range. Note this is a single gpu in this system. Any suggestions on how to push it a bit further while not crashing ?

Average 28.7 Mh/s TriXX Settings: GPU Clock 1150 Memory Clock 2000 -60mV Power Limit 12% Fan: 61% Ill let it run over night to see how it does.

For that gpu i recommend something like 1065 core, 1925-1950 mem, 875mv for core and mem voltage.. Should be pretty good mhs per power consumption (get like 27-27.5mhs).. you can try clocking the mem higher than 1950 but it may become less stable. (hynix mem)
