I'd like to request to be added to the whitelist. I'm relatively new to the bitcoin community, but I've been watching from afar for some time. I ordered a bASIC recently so I'd like to be able to discuss pertinent information on its proper thread. Same thing goes for other hardware, i.e. RPI; I'd like to be able to discuss it in a suitable location where I'd actually get replies, rather than posting here and hoping for the best.
Cheers.

Hi, I've been a long time lurker/reader of these forums, and it's only just become a need for me to post here. I'd like to update some of the 'currency exchange' threads with who have and haven't held up their end of the bargain in buying/selling BTC's. I feel it's pretty important to let the community know who is scamming with regards to bit coin trading, as it seems to be one of the major hurdles in bringing BTC to the greater community.
Failing that, I'm happy to let some one else know my experience, so they can update threads with a yay or a nay.
Hope to get whitelisting soon, thanks in advance.

Hi Thank's for the personal, I'm pretty new to boards, old timer you see (can probably tell from the lingo), so please excuse any lack of ettiquette ... oh sod it, you know what I mean. Anyway, thanks. Yeah, that's no problem. That is one reason why we have the newbie forum, and also why I can't let you out early. Sorry

Hi, I'd like to request to be whitelisted. I have been visiting as a guest for some time and have (largely thanks to this site) been mining with several rigs for over a month now. Now I would like to ask for help with updating poclbm (the mining software) inside GUIMiner, which is something far better suited to this board: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=42.0Would be great thanks..... Otherwise I have to bla on about meaningless things on meaningless (to me) boards. Cheers, vasilisclaw

Hi. I have a technical question which I posted in the newbie section but I assume people with enough knowledge about the issue aren't reading this section. It's about some anomalies in the data some of the exchanges provides, which is a show stopper for my project. I'd like to post it in the marketplace\service_discussion where I hope to get an answer at all. I really like what you are doing with forcing people to educate themselves before they are allowed to speak. Many more communities should study this kind of approach since, reading through the forum, it seems to work. So kudos to your approach! On the other site it's a bit frustrating for newbies posting technical questions.
Sincerely, Terry

Might as well be honest here, I have been using BTC for about 8 months. Just buying smaller amounts from the UK and it's becoming harder and harder to get a reliable source. Uk deposits to Intersango went, then MtGox ones went (still waiting on a deposit I made on the 7th of September) and now the pingit option on blockchain has gone this morning when I checked and who knows if it will be back. So after a bit of digging - well one google search really, I came upon this forum and noticed established sellers and also noticed that stupidly high commission charges are not being applied like they are with the above sites. So if I want to keep on top of this currency revolution then I should have as many options as possible and should keep learning as much as I can. This is why I want to be a part of this forum I can wait but if I could be whitelisted that would be great.

I've been a member for a (reasonably) long time, but have rarely been logged in when reviewing posts. I rarely see much of anything to post about in the newbie forums (to be honest, I rarely see anything in the newbie forums).
I occasionally see things that I'd like to reply to in the other forums though. The thread that inspired this message is the "Faircoin" thread. I'd like to respond to the authors idea with a possible solution to his (or her) idea that initial blocks in a "faircoin" system would have no reward. This (IMHO) is completely defective as there is no incentive for people to participate until after many people are already participating. I would suggest to him that a more appropriate schema would be:
1. Reward based on a combination of the block number and the difficulty. Reward gradually reduces as block number increases, but not as rapdily as the Satoshi system since it's also regulated by the difficulty. 2. Reward has a lower limit (maybe 0.01 FC or something) and there is no cap on the total volume of currency, to allow for permanent expansion of the economy, but in a very limited way. 3. Difficulty adjustments every N blocks (to ensure that rapid growth means rapid difficulty adjustment - downside: negative growth takes a long time to correct for, but keep N smallish to mitigate that) 4. Transaction fees remain the same as the bitcoin system.
This leaves people with incentive to participate from the beginning. Mining rewards (even in the beginning) are tied loosely to mining costs. Still acts somewhat like gold in that there isn't an actual limit on total currency, but there is a practical one..
