The time limit is a good idea, but requiring post count I don't see as great, it just encourages people to post useless stuff in the newbie section. Like this +1

1 bitcent is a lot for newbies. I've just spent my first 0.03, and had to pay a 0.01 transaction fee, which means my sum total of 0.04 is now down to 0. While I'm all for avoiding spam (and broadly support the policy in this post), I'm not convinced that charging a nominal fee is the way to go; what's nominal for experienced users of this new currency is prohibitively expensive to people who haven't actually got any/much of it. Jer, thanking the faucet for his entry into btc. -- http://bitcoinpyramid.com/r/53you too can join in the gamble

Due to a mass of trolling, only established posters are able to post in non-newbie sections. You are considered "established" if you have spent 4 hours online and have made 5 posts. If you have really good posts, you can post a request for preemptive whitelisting in the appropriate topic. Also: - You must have made one post in order to send PMs. - You need 10 posts to put a link in your signature. - You need 50 posts to put an image in your signature. Note that it may take up to 10 minutes for your PM or posting permissions to be granted. I understand these restrictions but I just registered to ask a question!

I think this is pretty spot on in terms of restrictions, certainly slows the trolls down!
I am definitely not writing completely useless posts just so that I can move to the grown-up forum!

The time limit is a good idea, but requiring post count I don't see as great, it just encourages people to post useless stuff in the newbie section. Like this Reminds me of the BBS-days in the mid-1980s where I had to post a message of minimum content before I would be allowed access to the file section for downloading (never a restriction on uploads though).

I'm a little irked I have to wait to jump into the forums, but I guess barriers to entry prevent morons from investing their time in trolling, eh?
