I don't know how everyone feels lately about Canaan's customer services, but I am not too happy about it. Earlier this month I asked for support of some technical issues. Jasmine put some technicians in contact with my ticket, then three days later that guy just closed my ticket without a single word of response. Yesterday, I managed to submit my order of two unitsamong the slow / crashy website after 4 hours of struggling, then created a ticket requesting for btc payment address as per their instruction. This morning I got a reply from Jasmine requesting for confirming my intention to pay in btc: Hello, a note has just been added to your order:
Thank you for your order!
We are currently not offering paypal, or credit card payment.
And we only offer Bank Wire Transfer for orders 60 units and above.
For all other orders, we accept BTC payment with the following method:
Cryptocurrency (BTC)
If you want to pay here privately in BTC, let us know. We have updated our policy and BTC payment is free. We will provide you a payment address and daily converted USD to BTC price for your order. Then you pay, and after we confirm receipt, we will ship you your product.
Which payment option will you use?
Jasmine I was like ?!?!?! Where did I say I wanted to mess with Paypal? Do I have an *option* rather than btc? What a waste of time.

That ^^ is a canned auto-response from their system. Ja it is rather convoluted process they have but eventually it works...

On July 24 I have paid for one 741 with bank wire without any hassle. Now BTC is only option for small orders? Unfortunately I dont have any BTC in my wallet right now. And also I could imagine how nice it would be to explain that payment was made with BTC to customs retards in my country

I have exactly the same problem at the moment. Explaining customs my btc payment. And that's on top of 26% import+tax. But those problems only sweeten the deal

They also require payment confirmation such as bank statement, paypal statement and else. Since my coinbase wallet also converts BTC value to EUR I may be lucky able to explain my payment if I do personal visit to customs office

Customs:
Informal Entries: If the value of your purchase(s) is less than $2500 and your goods are being shipped by mail or freight, they may, in most cases, be imported as an informal entry. However, there are exceptions to this. For instance, if the importation is determined to be for commercial purposes, the value limit for filing an informal entry for many textile items is either $250 or $0 - depending on whether or not the item is subject to Quota (see below). Clearing goods through CBP as an informal entry is less arduous a process than clearing them by filing a formal entry. Essentially, when goods are cleared as an informal entry, CBP will prepare the paperwork, including determining the classification number and duty rate for your merchandise.
Formal Entries: If your goods are valued at more than $2500, or for commercial textile shipments (clothes/materials) regardless of value, you will be required to file a formal entry, which can require extensive paperwork and the filing of a U.S. Customs and Border Protection bond. As mentioned above and for various reasons, CBP may require a formal entry for any importation. CBP, however, rarely exercises this right unless there is a particular concern about the circumstances surrounding an importation.
Luckily if i ever go over $2500 i work next to a port with the CBP office not a mile away if i ever need to clear items myself.
[edit] as for any duty. It looks like its around $2 USD for a single miner and if you hit $3000 the duty is $25, this is an estimate using fedex duty calculator.

They're slammed with orders and seem to hand generate each BTC address (ie: its not automated.) It took several weeks to get an address with the last round of orders.

no, but they have been closed for awhile now. they arent open for another 8 hours, plus the time it will take them to get on their computers and run their programs then start going back to the order fulfillment.

I truly hope all these stupid confirmation emails, slow btc invoicing, etc. dramas are not time buying tactics for the *maybe* non-existent A741.

well im guessing they had about 1000+ orders come in last night. I have order #89374 but if it takes them a week, ill have more btc cleared then so in case i put in a new order for a higher amount of miners and that is order #90763 thats a gap of 1,389. And there is only a team of 3-4 that manually goes order by order to give unique BTC addresses to each individual along with the shipping charges to be added in. So even if it takes them 5 min for each order you are only talking MAYBE 100 order being filled EACH DAY by each person.

I was thinking about buying 2 of these 741's. Do you guys think it is worth it? Someone said that these last longer than Bitmains miners, is this correct? Also, anyone suggest any specific PSU? I know they only do 1/2 of the S9 but if these come in quicker it could be worth it I guess. How long do you think shipment of these takes?

Halo Platform is one of the fastest Blockchains I've seen yet. They have FREE transactions. 250 Millisecond Block speeds. Smart contracts, Masternodes, blockchain games, and their own high speed DEX with BTC/ETH/USDC pairs. Similar to ETH, Waves, EOS, and more yet with only $1 million mcap. This video showcases the speed and reliability of the blockchain using the DEX, Masternodes (that will soon payout in BTC and ETH), blockchain games, and more! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g74d3ixX7E8&feature=youtu.be

It's anecdotal, but everything I've read states that the 741s are more reliable than the S9. Both are good machines, though. I ended up going with the 741s primarily based on the amount of heat and noise the S9s put out.

I received two confirmations of the same order. Replied to both of them to open the tickets, but haven't heard anything again since.
