So it's not compulsory to use an email address with Yolodice then? Interesting but very good choice. Users can stay completely anonymous if they use Bitcoin mixer.
Yes. It's not required you only need a name and this will be used on the chat box . The email address is for receiving updates  (promotions and future announcements). I still recommend setting one up in case your account get's hacked to have a proof of ownership.

This sucks. I hope the guy had at-least one of the above mentions.
They should be able to recover it once they read his email.

Thanks for letting me know. I guess I signed up with Yolo but never paid attention to any of these. I remember I added my email also the 2FA which I do whenever they have the feature. 2FA keeps the account secure always.

If you have deposited funds with them then you can sign a message from it and they might be able to unlock your account (provided that money came from your own wallet and not an exchange account).

Actually I look at every single "password lost" case individually. There is no automated service for that, to prevent abuse. If there is an email address on the account, things are usually easy. If not - there might be something which might prove account ownership, but it's much more work.

It's hard to count on signing messages with addresses - most people seem to use wallets that cannot sign, or they deposit directly from exchanges or other sites.

Sometimes when we cannot verify account ownership we offer sending tips/deposits back. This solves a lot of cases.

If anyone lost their password, the surest way to recover it is to send email to support@yolodice.com, we take it from there.

Cheers,
Ethan

I can tell you that we had quite many emails about recovering accounts... Apparently some lurkers saw large tips being announced in Chat and we quickly got several emails (all right - we were flooded)  asking to recover access to this account...

The case of @poer has been already solved :-)

Ethan

No one miss the roll hunt (low number) competition? I think its been a while since the last roll hunt, any plans to bring it back in the near future ethan? Or probably something new that is not based on "wagering"?

Hey there, I will talk to Ethan about this and see what he thinks.  I have suggested to him several times now that it's likely some people are getting tired of us just running wagering competitions lately.  I also gave him an idea for a wagering / lottery hybrid competition that would be fun, but would require some new coding for YD to handle.  But you're right, I miss the number hunts, too.  I'll talk to him (again).

Yesterday I added some delays for small bets. It's not permanent and I already heard many people did not like the change. My rationale was to decrease the load on the database, at least for a few days, so please allow this change to stay for the next few days.

I'll consider all reasonable arguments, including "If you don't change it back, I am going to play somewhere else" :-)

Happy Birthday Kiritsugu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Many green strikes and all best pal!

It seems there is some confusion about two things we decided to change recently:

1. We increased time delays for small bets

Small bets have a delay between 0.2s to 1s (and 2s for 0-value bets). We've raised the threshold a bit, so that bets smaller that listed below get a delay now:

- 0.00001 BTC (1000 satoshis)
- 0.001 LTC
- 0.0002 ETH
- 15 DOGE

There are a few reason for this:

- we wanted to give our database some rest, at least for a while,
- the number of small bets we were getting was  impacting the performance from time to time for all players,
- most of the small bets, hunting the green on high multipliers, came from faucet-players.

This is not a permanent change, but we'd like to keep it for a while.

We wanted to keep the threshold relatively small, and it's now ~ 0.05 USD. It does not mean you cannot place bets smaller than these thresholds, it just means betting would be a bit slower. I realize playing with small amounts with high multipliers (yeah, up to x990,000) is great, but we need to find a better solution to keep everyone happy.

If you have any ideas, please share!

2. We raised minimum DOGE and LTC tips to be on par with other coins

The minimum amount of DOGE you can now tip changed from 10 DOGE to 150 DOGE and 0.003 LTC to 0.008 LTC.

I realize DOGE is supposed to be fun, and it's fun indeed to send people small tips for fun. That's why we made min tip in DOGE 15 times smaller than in other coins. We would probably keep it this way if I haven't seen a number of players abuse this to farm faucet :-(

It seems that a lot of changes we keep making is just to make abuse harder, but it sometimes hurts the regular players. Rest assured we keep looking for better and better solution. And most importantly nothing is written in stone - if something doesn't work, we can change it.

Feel free to tell me what you think!

Cheers,
Ethan

Yep, I've added DOGE to the exchange. Judging from the reactions in Chat it was one of the most anticipated changes :-)

Right now you can exchange between any two of our coins: BTC, LTC, ETH, DOGE.

Nice addition buds, knowing that some gamblers wanted to extend their stay inside the house and by exchanging their coins to doge it will give
them more amount of coins and can give them a chance to execute whatever strategy they've think that will work favor them if they have deeper
bankroll.

No change in rate of winning, just play responsibly and always find enjoyment.

How dice is better then Lottery on smart contract? The same algorithm but ther is much more chances to win the Jackpot. As an example in LuckyBlock Lottery you can win 1 billion!! Much better then dice with 50% of win of your bet, is not it?
Where can I explore the smart contract? Is it audited? If not that lottery does not have any sense
Probably not.  My guess it's some third-rate trash site that'll be a scam in a couple weeks anyways, seeing as they've been spamming posts all over BitcoinTalk in unrelated threads about it.  Already reported them.

It is just funny to compare dice game with smart contract project, as both are very different IMO. Lottery cant be better than dice game in case of winning chance. Probably paid shill account to advertise the project, no need to think about it seriously.

Other dice sites also have a delay on smaller bets but the amounts are different. If ethan wants to encourage everyone to lose by increasing their minimum bet he should've set a higher minimum and the delay would be permanent instead of temporary. Using their faucet reduces your xp because you get some xp back once you wager.

Your post history shows it. A lot of us still play dice because it has one of the lowest house edge. Lotteries doesn't give you a better chance at winning you're against thousands of people and the house edge is very high.

As I said, the explanation is simple: handling 500 bets per seconds is not something we can safely sustain in the current setup without affecting performance of the whole YD. It's not that we increased the minimum bet amount, or capped the multiplier, or changed any other rule of the game. We are trying to adjust the delays to balance the game and our servers.

I obviously prefer dice because of:

1. instant result,
2. low house edge,
3. being able to apply different strategies

With a lottery you just play against other players and although the prize pool is often large, the chances to win are not greater than at a dice game. With one I can agree - a lottery can be fun for sure. That's why we are exploring a lottery game too.

Cheers,
Ethan

How about minimum delay on any BTC bet and kick in delays as value of coin decreases, this would encourage play in BTC. although I bet at minimum at times I've still turned over better than 50BTC

Cheers Jon Cheesy
