If you are not connected to silk road, then why worry? I don't think the fed wants to shut down the exchange completely, but will prob target specific accounts.

So, should I take out my bitcoins of bitstamp?

Yes.  You should ALWAYS take your coins out of exchanges unless you have an imminent trade.  Did people learn nothing from the Mt. Gox closure?

To learn more about bitstamp.  search it in the search box on this site.  See reviews from people on here about it.  also do a google search and look around.  I am not sure what you are referring to, but if your gut says there is an issue, then follow your instinct.

It's the first plausible explanation for today's rally. The lesson of MTGOX is if you're going to panic, panic early.

If the Winklis won´t launch their ETF soon, there won´t be any place around to sell your precious BTC for USD.
Will this affect SR 2.0 too, i´m a bit worried.  Undecided

waaaaaa  Shocked

Quote
The service allows consumers to pay in bitcoin from any mobile device with SMS functionality via a ‘gateway’ in the user’s country of origin.

Quote
Anyone wanting a 37Coins wallet can set one up at the company’s website, but, for people lacking web access and/or smartphone, a hosted wallet is automatically created once a small amount of bitcoin is sent to their cellphone number.

Quote
The service acts virally and once, say, Alice has bitcoin in her new wallet, she can send funds on to Bob – thus creating a wallet for him, and so on.

Quote
The reason 37Coins sees SMS as the best way to reach the most people, is that almost everyone now has access to a cellphone. According to the International Telecommunications Union, cellphone penetration will reach 95.5% globally by the end of 2014 – far higher than the roughly 40% of people using the Internet globally.

Coinbase has been doing this for a while, but only in the US.  I can send bitcoins through SMS to anyone's e-mail address and it will send them an e-mail asking them to set up an account.  If they don't in 30 days, the coins return to the sender.

Oh, and Coinbase does it for free.

Come on troll's. Have to do better than that.

Today's rally may have been triggered by criminals withdrawing coins before their accounts get frozen.

Seriously? How would that cause a rally?  It would cause a crash.

All that is relevant at this point imo is that the trend line has been broken upwards.

In the last hour, more than $50million worth of BTC have moved around the network.

Completely unhindered, at the behest of whoever they once belonged to.

Sometimes I forget how amazing this technology is.

Withdrawing fiat is riskier. Makes more sense for criminals to withdraw btc, launder it and cash out elsewhere under new account.

Most of the buying pressure should subside within 24 hours. I expect a Thursday crash.

$180 by Friday.

Maybe, the logic is that they had sold some BTC, were waiting to withdraw the USD, then realized they couldn't/it wasn't safe so they re-bought BTC?

If you withdraw USD from Bitstamp, you get a questionnaire where you have to strip naked before them.

Bye bye Bitstamp & friends Kiss

It’s not yet clear which exchanges are being investigated in the new push, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday evening, but many exchanges including the Tokyo-based Mt. Gox have already received subpoenas.

“One of the people familiar with the matter said the investigation was at an early stage,” the Journal reported, “and conclusions hadn’t been reached as to whether the exchanges were connected with Silk Road.”

I´m pretty sure Bitstamp was one of them!
Cash out as long as you can! Don´t get stamped!
I´m pretty sure they will find a way to reach BTC-E too.
Funds will get frozen... years will go by. Dreams of crypto richness will be gone.
Amen

..."I´m pretty sure they will find a way to reach BTC-E too."...

really, US authorities going to investigate overseas exchanges

doesnt seem plausible

When Drug Dealers money and China have left, volume and price should decrease by about 80%.
I´ll put in some buy orders between 80-150$

advantage: bitcoin.

The libertarian perspective: Regulations have created a funnel through which fiat must flow into the naturally more fluid bitcoin. (This is the correct perspective)

I guess this might also be the reason why BTC-E is so much lower, and they have asks between 100-500BTC that get refilled quickly all the time since a week.
BTC-E for now might seem as the last safe place to cash out criminals money.
Also the reason why LTC hasn´t been pumped that much.
