@CryptoMink The SEC & CFTC (two major financial regulatory authorities) are set to testify on cryptocurrencies during a U.S. Senate hearing on Tuesday, Feb 6. I bet most (if not all) institutional investors have pulled out of crypto markets ahead of this hearing for risk management purposes. 7:04 PM - 4 Feb 2018
-Is this a possibility?

Wall St. arrived in bitcoin December 13th 2017 ... price has dropped ever since.
It was before that, they entered October 30th 2017, when futures got announced. They pumped the price, seduced the sheeple, and now we are going to $2500, if not to $1000... These people are evil... they're gonna do to bitcoin what they did to gold and silver before. And the sheeple are going to fall for their tricks, as always.

Ask side is thin so we are back above 9000 in no time if just a few start to buy.

Unfortunately, the amount of support and resistance on the books seem to be a reverse indicator. I am keeping my fingers crossed that we do see 9000 soon though.

It is much easier for wall street to have a big score in stocks, bonds than in bitcoin. if there was some money to be made by shorting, then 67% of maximum gains for shorts are already made.
From my perspective, bitcoin is an unencumbered asset (it has no debt or any other liability). I simply consider it as a perpetual call option on the network. If you bought higher, then you are out of the money (currently), but since holding period is unlimited, what's the worry?
Just don't use cash that you would need in the foreseeable future to buy btc and you are, potentially, golden (at some point).

So for the first time, tax planning needs to be taken into consideration in my trading strategy. It makes things much more complicated but it is a nice problem to have.

Why all filthy rich guys are selling hundreds and thousands of BTC at that price? What are they thinking - the end of the world? Or early retirement? What if by the end of the year BTC hits 50K or even 100K $ and they realize how richer they could have been if only waited for several more months? But no, why have 100 mln in several months, while I can have 2-3 mln and retire now. Pathetic
The only reasonable way to do that is to have several million now, and 100 million in several months, as well. XD explorer gets it... ivomm seems lost. or maybe just bitter. Pathetic.

Use your heads guys. The same people that bought at any price to send it through the roof are now dumping continually to get the price down to nothing. I'll give you a clue who they are. They own all the world's banks and print money for fun. They saw bitcoin as a threat....they are taking it out as you watch.

So for the first time, tax planning needs to be taken into consideration in my trading strategy. It makes things much more complicated but it is a nice problem to have.
How about this plan, consisting of two stages: Stage 1: Accumulation (buy for fiat, buy through alt appreciation, mining, earning, etc.) Stage 2: Distribution. Allocate a % you want to potentially spend vs how much you want to leave to descendants. Maybe 50:50 or 70:30, whatever. Then divide your stash (that you want to consume) into equal yearly buckets considering maximum life expectancy. Enjoy life, travel, whatever. Maybe start the distribution phase at retirement of few years beforehand, say, 60. this way you would enjoy the potential spoils a bit longer or while in relatively better health situation. Example: you have N btc, then 0.5N (or 0.7N) is what you want to spend. If you start at 60, maximum lifespan is probably 30 years, give or take, therefore, starting at 61st birthday, and each year afterwards spend/cash out 0.017 of your stash (1.7%). This number would go to 3.4%/year if you don't want to leave 50% to descendants.

Nonsense. You are perverting a good meme with bad ideas. nope! if the weak hands are empty the price will rise. don't be a weak hand! Fair enough. I suppose that I had a more favored use of that particular meme... but upon reading your explanation, your use of the meme works, too.. so my word choice of "perverted" may have been too much.. I suppose I have been reading too many "me too" news stories, recently. I am in agreement that HODL and BUYDL positions seem to be decent ones within our current price range..... gosh we are still floating around 60% retracement from $19,666 down to $8k-ish.... buy on the way down, good advice, but if you run out of money because you already bought, then likely the next best practice would be to HODL. Yeah, they want your coins.. they want your coins, but really bitcoin does not seem to be overpriced in this price range.. especially, if you consider a longer term investment and including continuing to buy if the price were to go lower (that is if you have any money for such).

I call BS. If they do it, then their precious stock and bond markets collapse, so they would end up losing (as a group) many fiat trillions. Would they do it anyway? I have no idea, maybe they are stupid as a whole. They were in 2000, when they tried to prickle the biotech "bubble" and collapsed the techs, then Nasdaq and then the whole stock market.
