Yup, the bitstampers have decided that Gox won't give them any sweet coins and are just spamming their BUY BUY BUY buttons.

Bitstamp doesn't offer euro trading. And I just don't want to be exposed to the dollar/euro exchange rate, which is already very volatile.

I really don't get this - You're exposed to BTC/USD which is far more volatile than any USD/EUR rate over the past few years why trade on euro market which is less volatile than the usd market

No, i'm exposed to BTC/EUR... If i trade in BTC/USD i'll eventually have to switch back to euro if i want to cash out to fiat, which means i'll have the initial capital i invested minus or plus the gains/loss i have from the exchange rate USD/EUR and also any profit/loss i might have had from trading BTC as well. So if i had BTC profit that might as well be offset by a low EUR/USD exchange rate at the time i want to cash out to fiat. Twice the risk which i don't really want.

Honestly, all your trading should be about accumulating more coin
If you short and fail, it's better to be left stuck with your own currency, don't you think?

Uhh I hope that is supposed to be sarcasm. Bitstamp doesn't give a shit what MtGox does, it's going up while MtGox was going down.

It all depends on trading volume, if one exchange have a huge sell out, other will follow, gox isn't leading the price, neither are btcchina or stamp. Sometimes China go forward, sometimes is Gox.

Way healthier for price stability this way.

So it appears the seller is not really out yet and he just pulls back to toy with the buyers. This could consolidate for days or weeks till it meets the October trend line. Or maybe there's a small chance of a crash even. In any case this isn't worth the now 0.61%/day  interest rate on bitfinex so I'll just go back to holding regular btc (i took a new margin position at $275)

Bitstamp doesn't always follow the smaller gox movements but does panic on the larger movements ($15+).

... guys the market was dead in the water while gox was down and we had a panic sell on stamp to 323... gox comes up and shows a 360 price and stampers start buying. While gox was down stamp was flatlined.

Gox isn't down it's up, and stamp was 349 this morning so it's down too...  i'm sorry, MTGox clearly is still the price boss

Agreed.  Great having three or four big exchanges now instead of one.  They're all still a bit incompetent, but rarely, if ever, will they all be at the same time.    Wink

What do you guys think will happen next? Honestly I am absolutely stumped and I think I'll hold out on USD until I see a clear trend.

Think the trend is still clearly north, but I wouldn't be surprised if we chilled here for a while or even dropped a little now.
