Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Looks like Europe will be waking up just a little bit to late to actually profit from this short opportunity.
As various others have said here, holding seems to have been the most profitable action anyone could have taken throughout the last six months four years

Fixed for you.

Based on the peak and flash-crash low, the equilibrium price for bitstamp is $311 and mtgox is $338
I would expect stabilization around those until Monday when more fiat arrives, pressing the uptrend. Perhaps less likely is lack of new fiat and another bout of profit-taking occurs.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the resilience in price over the past 24hs.

We are waiting to hear about a new MAJOR Bitcoin player news tomorrow... could boost price guidance.

If this has something to do with Bitmit suddenly shutting up shop then we're only in the foothills.

I think it was this (already reported here):
http://www.coindesk.com/shopify-integrates-bitcoin-payments/

probably... or are there other news today?

bears come from the cave right when the price starts to fall =D cheap coins buy them, this rally is not end yet, just a major correction.

+1 just a major correction from a fail to break 400 on a saturday.
Usual bear panic attack on a week end. Remember cash piling in next week.

$250 by midnight EST
$189 by midnight Sunday EST

I'll give you $290, even though it rebounded.  I don't think we'll see $1xx on Mt. Gox again, ever.

No.  Because ¥2100 ≠ ¥1200.

Me too! Should have sold a couple hundred yesterday at $380, would have woken up VERY happy this morning.

I suspect though tomorrow will be crazy- with all the Fiat coming in people are going to be super excited to have a chance to buy in cheaper.

Meanwhile fiat on Bitstamp is growing every single minute, $6.5M now and counting. Just waiting for the bomb to go off. Wink

The funniest prediction I remember was rpietila saying it would never go below $100 again.

Within less than 24 hours of this prediction the price hit around $90. I'm still not convinced it wasn't him who sold it down to this level.

Trust nobody !
