Feel bad for those people selling on Gox. Unless you really are going to take Gox to court and you have to be in fiat, then just don't do that.

Either use Bitcoinbuilder https://www.bitcoinbuilder.com/ for a better rate and access to your funds in 24 hours, or just hold on - all or nothing, balls of steel.

Gotta be better than selling for $150.

Was asleep, what what the time window between the news and the crash? 5minutes or less? What was the first news source?

The news came out at least 2 hours after the crash started. Seems like some people knew a bit earlier than the rest of us.

And people wonder why there's so many "sheep" in a crash. We've been conditioned to assume someone knows more than us when they start to dump. More often than not, they do.

Bitcoin Foundation insiders do know stuff earlier than others. So did Coinbase, probably (which maybe has something to do with that 10k wall?).

That was an opportunity to make money off the herd of us, like any other. I do not even know whether we should get upset about it anymore. Knowledge is power. Insider trading will always happen.

Unless there is an announcement that they are shutting up shop for good I can't see that happening.

Remember that over the past few days a whole lot of speculators have started initiating transfers into Gox in the hope of getting extraordinary discounts. Some of that money has already arrived but my guess is that the bulk of it will start coming in today and this week. Whether it will be too late by then - in whichever direction - or not, I can't say!

What is the usual "update" time, if in fact it will be today, like in 1-2 hours?

Yup.

But the way this is playing out they might just decide to wait until later in the week to say anything.  Cheesy

It's actually a good news. After Mark Karpeles blamed Bitcoin protocol to be guilty for his own wallet software problems there is no one who wanted MtGox to be in the board of the Bitcoin Foundation any more. Resignation is a good decision made, but most of speculators can't resist to dump the price for a while on such news. This have nothing to do with when and if MtGox is capable/will return the coins and surely are good news for all the Bitcoin community. It's Monday and a lot of fresh fiat should be coming to MtGox bank accounts.

Short term it's not. Long term it is. Just wait for wave 2 and 3 of dumpers while the price temporarily recoups. This is gonna haunt the market for a few more weeks.

Well just woken up and as per usual missed a lot of the action and chance to make some easy money.

Great to see we're doing some wall observing!

Predictions for the day then?

Mine: No gox announcement, price to fall back to around $100 in gox and stamp to follow to about $550

I don't think them clearing up their twitter of bot automated responses is a bad thing. If they deleted their twitter then maybe but just getting rid of their tweets is just a chance to spread more FUD for the manipulators

Nothing against anyone but news driven events like these are unpredictable, unless you have a glass ball. All the TA in the world doesn't make it any less of a guessing game when it comes to outside events.

The downfall of gox is most definitely predictable! Say 99%..
