we all need a holiday from time to time! a nice beach with crystal clear waters or a lake in the mountains... speaking of which, took my dad & daughter to the beach for a bit of a paddle, ended up surrounded by 'lots' of different fish(es) we all giggled like it was magic - it kinda was. bought 12 more coins when we got home, and ate calimari.

I cant see how it could use the same Blockcain as bitcoin - there is no technical need for them to do so. In fact its already bloated so they would just have to waste money on hardware to store the old junk, a zero start seems much more likely. I suppose the only alternative benefit for them might be that they don't have to do anything much if they use an established chain and infrastructure. But banks probably don't feel that comfortable with all their eggs in someone else's network.

In a past life I worked for one of the banks mentioned in the article. I worked in a secondary office, where everyone was technical, and we had very little contact with the bankers, traders or anyone else involved in the core business, so to keep us lowly techs informed they held periodic meetings. At one of these meetings they told us that they'd mislaid 16000 "Wintel boxes" (PCs). They weren't too concerned, the PCs were bound to turn up sooner or later. So I'm not sure whether wasting money on hardware is that big a concern for them! That said, I do agree that it makes more sense for them to start a new blockchain - for exactly the reason you suggest. I'm mostly bullish on this - I kinda expected it, and I think it's a necessary step before big finance embrace the original Blockchain. At some point a different bank, or group of banks, is going to have a choice - join a blockchain dominated by some of the biggest players in the industry (join on their terms), start yet another blockchain (and convince partners and the public that it's secure), or utilise The Original And Best Blockchain. I think the three approaches will coexist for some time.

Someone really wants to milk this cow until the end... Wrong. They just abandon a shitty performing asset for better performing ones. Stop seeing ghosts everywhere (manipulation).

Down we go. I hope this ends soon. Better have stable prices, than the fear of doom. Wonder if I should be looking at an alt coin or just give up. Best thing to do is probably to turn of the pc, forget about BTC, and hopefully be positively surprised in a few years. Cold storage here we go..

I simply can't agree with you So you will lose money. 100eu incoming... (until Christmas, then bounce to 200eu and spring below 100eu). Then rally.

Just don't agree with a reasons for going down I see, apologies! But you have to understand IMO something, manipulating the market is done ONLY in the direction with the less resistance, hence BTC is already weak if it can be manipulated downwards.* Why? Lack of demand and excess of supply. Enter manipulator that adds leverage to this. So there is no manipulation essentially, only amplification. Try to manipulate this at 1000$.... EDIT: * Unless there is a manipulator alone stronger than the whole market (remember, it is not just the BTCUSD pairs he has to manipulate, but essentially all cryptomarket - coins are correlated, AND the commodity market, AND the forex market, AND the stock market. Cryptos are correlated with all and none of these categories). But this is already very illuminati like scenario (I doubt a Soros would risk to do it) and if true EXTREMELY bearish for BTC, so better abandon the ship now...

I genuinely think that's the best thing to do. I mean I enjoy being on the forum but as far as expecting a quick return & significant profit in bitcoin well that's not going to happen. Cold storage for 10+ years I think & then hope to see some significant progress then. If not then at least we tried. We're not going to see 10,000 USD coins any time soon though. cheap coinzzzz
^^ For anybody wanting to buy then yes this is true

Well MtGox did it. You only need 2 or 3 exchanges to do so... Pick 2. Edit: I know that it sounds crazy, but to be fair nothing wouldn't surprise me in bitcoin world anymore MtGox was early adopter, now it will not be that easy

It could be only a matter of when the holders decide they don't hate money and join the shorters. You can still believe in Bitcoin and make money by shorting while the market sentiment is down, it's futile to fight it.
