actually a 2MB block is about the same size as an average webpage over the last 2 years. It's not about bandwidth or capacity, its about control and investment FUD.
do a resync of the blockchain : - first 30Gb = 6 years of Bitcoin - last 30Gb = 1 years and 8 week of ... Bitcoin Yes, SegWit is safe heaven for privat node.

Wow. The explosion of puss, poison, and vitriol seems to suggest some kind of boil has been lanced.
Crassic has failed, what's next now on the maximally FUD bitcoin agenda I wonder?
Do you realize like this you are FUDding as much? I liked the old marcus_of_augustus better, all the trolling got to you. i'm sure his ID has been compromised along with theymos, I used to respect the old marcus_of_augustus, he was an independent thinker. I'm sure the real Marcus would let us know if that happened. Marcus is just cranky and paranoid.

How's that purge going? Edit: (Not a collectivist purge at all, of course. A free and tree hugging, rainbow kissing anarchist purge.) I have to admit I miss lurking around the gold thread. The forum is kind of a husk of what it was. bitco.in/forum is healthy and going strong I’d be sad to leave friends behind. Marcus and iCEBREAKER would be lost without me.

So did MP really put a hit out on some Classic dev? Gavin? All them sub/dom antics were just a stage, our little chrysalis has blossomed into a full-on straitjacket & Thorazine nutjob protector of Bitcoin? Links?

P.S. Monero is another one I totally missed. I mean, it just keeps chugging up, +26%/24hrs, even some volume there. What gives?
That belongs in another thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=583449.0

https://www.technologyreview.com/s/600781/technical-roadblock-might-shatter-bitcoin-dreams/Joi Ito, director of the MIT Media Lab, which supports three leading developers of Bitcoin’s code, says that he believes the people working on the currency will be able to find ways it can scale up. But it may not be possible to upgrade Bitcoin’s capacity fast enough to meet the expectations of some investors and the Bitcoin companies they have backed, he says. “I think there are some businesses that have promised returns based on the scaling that are not really reasonable,” says Ito. Ito is a member of MIT Technology Review’s board.
