Which is what makes the statements from some Classic supporters so ridiculous, they first want to replace 45 developers from many backgrounds and many different companies with 5 devs from 2-3 companies, than when that fails they threaten to sell their BTC for ETH which is controlled completely by 1 dev ... all because they "distrust authority."  Perhaps the reality has nothing to do with decentralization of development (There always has been multiple implementations with different dev teams) , but a fixation of growing fast and ignoring all concerns along the way.

So the Core devs will quit if they have to work with the same code with 2Mb block size instead of 1Mb?

That is a false dichotomy as there is probably only 0.00002% of the ecosystem that wants 1MB block sizes. To answer your question , if we lived in an alternate reality (Classic is stillborn and now has no little chance due to the miners coming to consensus) where Classic convinced the economic majority and miners to use their implementation which proposes a 2MB capacity increase vs a 1.7-2MB (with other benefits)  one than the following would likely be the fallout-

1) Some devs would leave bitcoin altogether abruptly or just stop contributing and slowly selling off their large investments
2) Some devs would join classic and be equally motivated
3) Some devs may attack the HF or create a competing alt
4) Some devs may participate with classic but be less motivated

It would also set a dangerous precedent where a contentious HF's would start to become the norm and we have more to look forward to with regard to politics and arguing every year...

The idea is for Classic to get one HF in to test waters and than a HF becoming a regular exercise every few months
I'm not joking -- look at this --

They aren't talking about soft forks either but hard forks ... Classic devs even wanted to HF in segwit when a soft fork is available!

Wow...upgrade = hard fork. Interesting.

Or
5) everyone adopts Core with 2Mb and the Core team implements the change and moves forward with SegWit and LN with very little effort.

What a load of fucking shit. You really are a spoon.

If Core devs decide to fuck off because they don't get their way, well they can fuck off now. That sort of mentality is about power grabbing and ego.  If you believe in a decentralized currency, who cares how it wins, as long as it wins.

Segwit is a fantastic addition to Bitcoin. But the idea that you can soft fork now and hard fork later is stupid. Hard forking later means more people are on the network and therefore there are more people to piss off.  Hard fork now is common sense. Segwit as and when its ready.

Stop being a spoon.

I enjoyed the slideshow. I thought /u/coblee's response earlier was better but the slideshow was interesting. What's a bit scary is the discussion of an the unreleased (redacted) version... That gives me the willies, not the bot.

So BJB, you said... 'other coin' what options are you looking at if you don't mind me asking? Just looking to expand after viacoin... lol

You mean that core adopts 3.7Mb to 4MB(2MB maxblockSize+ Segwit) capacity, right? Or are you suggesting Core delay SegWit? Or should Core redesign Segwit to remove the capacity increase within the new merkle tree so it doesn't incentivize people to reduce UTXO growth?

I know I am being nitpicky with language , but the details are important , and there is a tremendous difference between 2 and 4. Believe it or not , most core devs want big blocks , but are selecting a scaling proposal for very specific reasons. When a political coup rejects their ideas , it is a slap in their face and akin to a bunch of mostly non-engineering* Space enthusiasts demanding NASA Engineers to make critical design changes that could place their whole mission in jeopardy.

* -- Most of Core Devs do not agree with the design decisions of Classic and although Classic has 2 competent developers it is a similar slap in the face.

its doubtful will go below $360.. let alone $350... and especially doubtful it returns to below $300. all common sense tells us bitcoin is over-priced due to it being broken .. it has only been nine months they been talking about this fork thing.. people are not rushing into bitcoin, they are rushing into pms. this $350+ bitcoin is a scheme to keep people who wont buy above $300 out. and those like hearn who sold their coins at $300 from buying their coins back and making a profit.

problem is yellen is talking about negative interest rates as if it is ammo rather than a last ditch effort of desperation that it really is... negative interest rates is the next joke we are all going to laugh at yellen about after she blundered with the 1/4% interest rate hike that set the current environment course .. its basically game over and bitcoin still can't scale... yeah everyone is going to rush right into bitcoin . #GimpedCoin

Wow... you are braver bear than me... I shorted 2 days ago, when 12h MACD divergence looked ready to cross into red,
and then had to close the short at a small loss, so now I'm waiting, it may crash this weekend or climb to 400$ and then crash.
Anyway IMO support at 300$ must be tested, even in a bullish scenario.

This question was recently adressed to a chinese tourist guide by a western traveller at the "Big Wall of Worry"!

The traveller: Sir, I was wondering how you could have built this magnificent building. What size exactly is each brick it is built of? Everything is dependent on the size of the bricks, isn't it?

The guide: No, it's not. In the end it doesn't really matter, as long as the wall is strong enough to defend against our outside enemies.

If we would have taken smaller bricks we would have needed to find a way to hash them from bigger rocks - but as we were techniclally skilled - it was no problem at all.
If we would have taken bigger bricks from the start, it would have taken us less technical skills and as we had a good enough transportation system - this was no problem either.

After the architects realized there is no real decision to make. The legend tells us, they tossed a coin and started building - some parts with bigger, some parts with smaller bricks.

The guide (to himself): I don't care, as long as you come to visit this "magnificent" place and pay for my sallary.

If you are also a traveller at the Big Wall of Worry. Think twice. Relax. And start building an empire or a fortune. The time is now. And the brick size is not what matters the most let alone kills the wall!
