I don't do TV. Gave it up years ago. No cable, no antenna, no commercials.

Anything I want to watch, primarily Jays' road games and movies, I watch through the computer.

I hate commercials. I barely tolerate Youtube now because they'e started sticking commercials in at the start of videos. I consider them to be stealing my bandwidth.

Banner ads are acceptable because you have the option of ignoring them and focusing on the content, just like magazine ads or billboards beside the highway. You can turn the page with the full-page ad and continue reading the article, or ignore the billboard and enjoy the scenery.

TV and Youtube commercials are unacceptable because you are forced to pause the content for the duration of the advertising. If I have the option, I'll boycott any advertised product.

That's one reason bitcoin doesn't function well as a transactional unit even if it didn't completely centralize.  If some old coot dies with a bunch of gold or silver, someone nearly always recovers it.  If some boomercuck is listening to Jimmy Buffet and overdoses on margaritas, the bitcoins are going to go missing a huge amount of the time.  Instead of inflationary, equilibrium, or deflationary, bitcoin is more like hyper-deflationary, which sounds good for pump and dumpers, but doesn't seem to be that good for mainstream adoption in a grocery store or something.

Soon people will begin to realize this is an even more important reason for L2 development than the blocksize issue.

Roach has some valid points

It takes energy to extract gold and silver, from burning fossil fuels. Peak oil also = peak gold and silver you can't magic it out the ground without expending the work.  'Proof or work' in bitcoin was based on that principle. There is no magic surplus going to arrive from outer space.
  
Also as per recent comments a few pages back. Lightning Network, I have also concluded is a banking layer plonked on top of bitcoin.
