I personally think that the dump was just a bear trap. I have nothing to back this claim.
Except simple common sense? Someone invested a lot of money steadily maintaining the price while accumulating a lot of coins during July and August. They're not going to let a couple of smallish whale dumps seriously decrease the value of their hoarded stash. Hence my earlier post of the picture of the big whale eating the smaller whale. You know? The one following the pictures of a beartrap and a bear shorn like a sheep.

I've never put anyone on ignore, no matter how foolish or obnoxious they try to be. Foolishness and obnoxiousness have long been cornerstones of humor.

Even whales with lots of money can get fiatless or just unable to deposit much sooner than they expect (and they went pretty far already).

Unless... They just intend to keep buying, and buying, averaging in their cost basis.
Yes. I'd thought of that. My feeling was that they saw the market continue to climb on its own after their last major purchase and took the opportunity to take some profits by selling a moderate number of coins (compared to what they'd bought during the push up), fleecing a few bears, and buying another moderate amount (at a lower rate) to push the price back almost to where it was when they set the trap. Win-win for them. Eventually we'll find out who they are. My guess is that they're something to do with BTC infrastructure like a new exchange, money transmitter, or both. Or of course it could be someone like Helu, Gates or the Rothschilds seeing the chance to buy a "controlling interest" while the price is still low.

After the uptrend of the last 2 months I expected a retrace to the $110 region. However, the formation on the 12 hour chart at $130 is looking a lot like the formation at $65. The market seems to be building for the next major leg up.

+1 You almost nailed the 110 (just by a very few $ higher). Hope this time you are right again ;-) I have the same impression. Don't know if you use tradingview.com (we miss many of you there) but if you do (or not). Here there is a representation (not mine) of why could be similar. https://www.tradingview.com/e/LaQWbgrq/

Are there actually any whales on this forum, that contribute and read what is written? If not then everyone here is just guessing what is going to happen next with very little actual knowledge more than what they perceive to be the most rational approach

Yes, at least 2. Jaroslaw had around 100k but sold them in the bear trap of June. Walsoraj happened to be the one who got most of his coins.

Foolishness and obnoxiousness have long been cornerstones of humor. that and it is good to test ones assumptions with potentially countervailing opinions, even if they seem far fetched or the rantings of a mad man. on the other hand they can also show you that your thinking is not in line with that of a known fool

Boom! $144.9999
edit: I wonder if these buy-ups lately are someone, or some group, stacking coins in preparation for an upcoming business venture? Perhaps a new financial service of some kind?

Careful guys, ask sum is going to be under 40,000 soon. This is when those who are trying to call top get itchy fingers. Price can make leaps upward, but it will be very very hard to sell at top. Trust me. crash incoming
