Africa (the unbanked) is where we really need to push adoption. I guess the issue is not having the internet (wifi or 4G). Imagine if even 1 in 1000 people had a mobile phone & a BTC wallet or something.

In TA-related news, Top Crypto Trader Says BTC May Go Up if it Goes Up, Go Down if it Goes Down. https://www.newsbtc.com/2019/01/26/bitcoin-btc-could-be-gearing-up-for-a-big-move-as-sideways-trading-persists/Although this weekend is off to an involatile start so far, Mayne, a popular cryptocurrency trader, noted in a recent tweet that Bitcoin could very well climb higher in the coming days if it is able to break above a few key levels.
“$BTC if we break above the grey block you can add or wait until a break and close above yearly open to add,” he said, with the referenced “grey block” existing around $3,650.
Mayne later noted that Bitcoin has moved closer to this region, and if it is able to break above its yearly open at approximately $3,700 it could see a price surge up to $4,000. That's TA in a nutshell.

I'm sure you've heard of Kenya's mPesa and all that. So, they do. The problem is they need extra money to invest in a very high-risk investment. Or, less pessimistically, they need to be able to exchange in-and-out of bitcoin with less fees than is incurred by using Western Union or something.

Total waste of time pondering btc for Africans, S Americans, roaches. It's not for the poor, it's for extremely hnw individuals. Not just 'be yer own bank', but 'be a bank' to the unwashed. If they propose something useful, rather than the usual 'we deserve to be fed because socialism'.

Running a lightning node on a raspberry pi for kicks. Using LND. How the hell do I set the fee?? I have no idea what the default fee setting is or where to alter it? Any pointers?

bcash just dropped to 6th place on CMC. A bit lower and it'll go bellow litecoin. Feels like someone liquidating a ton of BTC for cash, CW has been kinda quiet lately could he be filling up for the final push

Imagine if even 1 in 1000 people had a mobile phone & a BTC wallet or something. Need solid lightning set up in place before true adoption, otherwise it'll be killed off again once someone decides to bump the fees to $10+ again

Does anyone know why the order book on stamp looks so different than elsewhere? On stamp there seems to be much more buy support than sell resistance. Eg buying 1250 btc on stamp now will bring the price up over 17% while selling the same amount will bring it down less than 3%. However stamp volumes and walls are tiny compared to other exchanges (but other exchanges have more fake volume and walls) and according to https://data.bitcoinity.org/markets/books/USD the buy and sell walls are much more evenly matched (when I looked just earlier the sell walls were even larger than the buy walls across exchanges). What is the truth? Does binance have too large an influence on the overall figures?

Bad news? Boys it's a $100 fluctation during sideways action, I say it's all going to be alright and pop back up to $3,600 in a few days. A) $ 3,600 is very small for an BTC B) I have fomo because of the grin

We see a price of 3600 dollars for about 2 weeks, so we are used to it...

Going to take this opportunity to shill two prog rock albums in case anyone here is into that. Both are actually from 2017 as opposed to the 1970s though. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Flying Microtonal BananaAs the name suggests, this one is microtonal, e.g. using notes that aren't represented on traditional chromatic 12-note scales. I checked this out. I wouldn't call it prog rock - it lacks the complication and the grandiosity. It sounds like psych rock to me. Good though.

There is mobile internet - at least in cities and around highways. I think africa will be very soon show what's possible with bitcoin in areas with corrupt governments and inflated money. If smartphones become cheaper bitcoin could have a huge impact on the economy and society there. And of course if LN works and transaction costs go really down. High transaction costs might be the main reason it is only used in totally wrecked economies (Zimbabwe) or "rich" african countries (Kenya, SA, Ghana) M-Pesa is successful in parts of Africa - it's only a small step from there to cryptocurrencies.
