I wonder how all those dopes who sold at $3xxx feel now? I mean, how dumb do you have to be to see the preceding pattern and still sell at an 80% discount to the ATH?

Weak hands, there’s plenty of them everywhere. Not everybody has a rock solid grip like most of us WO brothers.

I have enormous respect and admirations for those who got weak hands; they are the only reason we are filling and increasing number in our little stash. one person's weakness is a strength for another fella.

Last year I introduced Bitcoin to a couple of frends of mine. They bought at $5~6k and sold it all at $3k because, "it's not going anywhere mate"...

People tend to expect an easy gain, and freak out when it drops below what they paid to buy. They neither understand the underlying mechanism, nor do they have the patience to HoDL. They just want a quick profit, and that's exactly why they are the losers of the game.

I seem to be getting discredited & trolled by a couple of the least respected (with the worst trust scores) people on the entire forum.

There’s a thread about me started by one of cryptohunter’s alts & every time somebody posts something positive about me he deletes it (it’s a self moderated thread).

I’ve had no choice but to start my own Reputation thread. Please feel free to leave your comments/experiences with me here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5147811.new#new

Thanks for your time Smiley

Do not give importance to these things, I do not need to check any box to know who I trust. Wink

I have put buy orders in the mid to high 6,000s (why so low?) I am remembering the bear market and if it taught me anything was that there would be a dip  a rally to lower than previous price point calm and a dip lower .

We are in reverse, bears had that low 6s dip and now it's gone higher than previously. They'll dip again but it won't reach previous lows and we will run higher than 8900.

I suck at programming but here is my take: :p

If ever hits $6k, again;
I'm instabuying 0.3BTC

elif BTC hits $5k;
me buys another 0.5BTC

elif BTC hits $4k;
me buys 1 full BTC

else;
Keep DCA'ing.

exception   : sell some when it hits $50k
exception 2: sell some more when it hits $100k
exception 3: no matter how much you sell, always keep some in case it goes even higher

Or you could just ignore it.

Insightful.

There was a time when Trust on this here board was a rating established by counterparties who had engaged in deals with the subject, indicating whether or not said deals were satisfactorily concluded. In this manner, Trust was a relative indicator if engaging in a future deal with said subject would likely result in being defrauded.

These days, it seems the Trust system ain't nothing but a popularity contest. Absolutely useless for its stated purpose. The sooner theymos decides to abolish it, the better.

In the meantime, knock yourself out chasing that elusive meaningless glitter.

What year will we achieve a new ATH?
39% of total participants think that we will get new ATH at 2020. Why so late?

I have voted for 2019. We still have more than 6 months to gain ~$11k which is quite a bit easy.

On this day of 2017, BTC was ~$2500 and at December we got the ATH of $20k. Why is it not possible this year you think?

It is pretty much achievable base on the current happenings around Bitcoin, we are gradually approaching $9k and when this happens be rest assure that we are landing $11k  Cheesy

Good morning Bitcoinland.

I see we've held on to most of yesterday's gains and can probably declare the weeks-old battle for $8k to be officially won... currently $8865USD/$11920CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Now the battle for $9k begins. Let's see how long it lasts.

Go Bitcoin go.

9600 by next week boys.

10k will be a strong psychological border, if we break up i would say we are officialy in bull market again lol

Too late.

We already are in a bullmarket.

Been a few weeks now that such transition took place.

A few weeks? We've been in a bull market all year.

Bob, I see 0 volume.  Are you on the jenkem?

Shh. Patience. Drums in the deep.

EDIT: OK, maybe "wave" and "strap in" was too hyperbolic. Expecting to test $9k in the next few hours.
EDIT2: And to further clarify my gut feeling, once we breach $9k, I expect massive profit-taking, followed by dogs and cats, living together.
EDIT3: My position remains. HODLing and do not intend to divest any further BTC until after the halvening - but not before 2021 - Waiting for Rick to independently retire, and figure out what we want to do with the rest of our life together. Possibly divest BTC to reinvest in 100+ acre real estate/ranch in rural area.

Optimism is good, and the moves here are giving credence to the case that the bull market is establishing itself.

You are quite right that massive profit taking will come, but the level from which it starts is difficult to estimate.  The current price wave is unsustainable in the longer trend. A glance at the chart makes this obvious.

If we are to get to a new ATH in the next year or so,  a strong pullback would be needed in order to consolidate the overbought positions.

The recent moves have almost broken with the 2014-16 pattern, but that only means that predictability has declined, not that a new roadmap can be put in place.
Actually, we had some profit taking several times but the buying pressure is so intense that it took only several hours up to 1-2 days to recover. Now, we are in the position that non traders buy and hodl in anticipation of the approaching halving. Traders are not able to short with profit for many reasons. Btw, Bitmex included Kraken in its price making, so it will be harder to manipulate the market. Kraken is notorious for its slow reaction to price drops. Also, bakkt and fidelity platforms are in the final test stage. Actually, bakkt is ready with some sofisticated structures and is just waiting for a custodian licence by NYDFS. Being backed by ICE, I don't see any obstacles getting this licence. So any attempt of shorting/selling would be incredibly risky right now.  Last year traders were afraid how far the price will crash and will it recover in foreseable future. Even the most optimistic didn't see how just in 5 months the price will be near 9K. That looked ridiculous in January-March. The mood and the trend has changed and the only question is when, not if, we will break the ATH again.

exactly

flensgold is the only person I ever put the trust flag on, he sourced and shipped me a number of euro spec thermostats to fit HVD.be waffle irons (long story).  This was way back in the day, I think it was 6 BTC for the parts.  I could not find an EU supplier that would accept a US credit card and my bank laughed at me when I wanted a wire transfer in the low 3 digits.

Point is, the guy could have given me the finger and walked with 6 BTC, instead he repackaged and shipped my parts.

Trust, that is what it is for.

At this point there's a possibility of a breakthrough, we are landing safely "bitcoinlanding".

Those have got to be the most expensive thermostats you've ever bought...

Like my TREZOR, which I bought for 0.13 BTC...

Lesson learned: spend fiat first, and BTC only when you absolutely have to.

Well yeah, of course I regret EVERY bitcoin I have ever sold, but like Laszlo, you can't beat yourself up over what is gone.

We all hoped that this would happen, we knew it was possible, but back then it seemed far from certain.

Those 6 don't really bug me at all, the 100 that went to BFL?  yeah, that one is harder to be philosophical about...

Fantastic word, "spend fiat first, and BTC only when you absolutely have to.",  Grin almost made a silly mistake last week, until i realize the possitivity of Bitcoin compared to that of fiat, then i use fiat and store up Bitcoin.

This is never happened to me, as I am too late into Bitcoin to have experienced such bad accidents.
But I think the best way to look at spent bitcoin is this one:
