sketchy exchanges crashing/going offline before you can liquidate,

you mean like Coinbase yesterday?

Yep. Pretty sad that one of the supposed *premier* Crypto exchange brokers in the world can still go down like that.

After all these years, it's still flaky and suspicious behavior from them. Dare I say criminal?

In just 4 yrs the reward will be BTC3.125 per block
plot twist, a rare bug causes the 3rd halving to become a quartering down to 3.125 btc instead of 6.25 btc.

Iniatially price dumps dramatically until it's figured out bug is rare and oneoff issue only. Then price goes stratospheric as supply shock becomes absorbed.

Seems to me that bitcointalk was the vehicle of the new wealthy elite, gentlemen idea with Astro (now banned member (that's why his name is listed as "anonymous") from June 4, 2011 - see his first post in the thread, below (and linked, too).  The thread was shut down in mid-2018, after the spam posting seemed to have gotten a bit out of control in that thread.  Seems that there are a lot of decent historical discussions in that thread.

I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen.

After reading this, the scale of black market and digital economies and the effect Bitcoin will have on them I am pretty certain we are going to be very wealthy men -- even with a sum as small as 10 Bitcoins. It's just so hard to believe. We are only in the beginning storms with these significant rallies from 10 to 20 dollars. I will not be surprised to see prices from hundreds to thousands in the coming months.

The world just isn't going to be the same and we have been blessed as the pioneers.

What are you going to do with your Bitcoin wealth once your coins hit upwards of $10,000 a pop?<<<<<<<<<

Edit:

Elwar beat me to it:

I always assumed it went back to the original thread of

I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen.

Lol at the second poster zhalox.

Here's the 2011 "I'm gonna stay in Bitcoin forever and I'll be rich someday" post:

Quote from: zhalox
Are you currently putting all your money into bitcoin?  If you say this, you show you believe it by your actions.  I am putting all my money into bitcoin - I see a possibility of $50-$100+ per coin this year.  Just think, once the "bankers" and hedge funds find out about this, we are going to the moon.  Once my bitcoins are $1,000+ I will be able to pay off my growing college loans and maybe get an apartment, and my first car

...followed by the 2015 "I've dumped all my Bitcoin for a shitcoin" post:

Quote from: zhalox
I personally favor Monero, since it's the anonymous encrypted internet money that the original Silk Road users once thought Bitcoin was, and is the world's first true digital cash.  As a Bitcoin miner & trader since early 2011, I have loved it and still do for various things, but unfortunately Bitcoin is already legacy (e.g., Netscape Navigator).  If you want true next-gen Bitcoin 2.0 cryptocurrency / digital cash, Monero is the new kid on the block (e.g., Google Chrome alpha/beta). Monero / XMR isn't a fork of Bitcoin but rather rewritten from the ground upwards, is fungible, untraceable, anonymous, & scalable (and they fixed the block size problem too), and some Bitcoin devs are updating Monero's code which gives it credibility, as well as multiple Ph.D. cryptographers. I've converted my BTC funds to XMR and don't plan on going back to legacy (except when necessary using services such as https://xmr.to). The free market shall decide...

Moral of the story: Stay the course, stay in Bitcoin, don't give in to shitcoins.

Or a more recent example - mindrust  Cool

Dont want to sound like a prty pooper but whats with all the Red?
I thought this was going to be a fun party?
That livestream with ver et al is all anti BTC too.
I switched off.
Anything with ver showing up on it is instant flatline. Wink

They are pretty upbeat at the one I have been mentioning for the past hour about. Cheesy
They are trying to match the number of viewers to the price of bitcoin and with it dropping they are just about there. Grin

Much better stream thanks.
Yeah they just passed 10k live viewers so hopefully BTC price follows that post halving in about an hour.
They are still counting down to the blocks live so I think it is the largest stream with all these OGs coming online now to celebrate this event.
edit: Just about 12k now in the last 30 minutes. Smiley

Is there a website like blockchain.info that includes the block reward amount?
Coindance might have that information for you.

In 210,000 blocks CNBC, Bloomberg, Fox and every business news will be covering that event.

In 420,000 blocks every news organization in the world will be covering the event.

in 840,000 blocks the halving will be a footnote because everyone in the world will be using #bitcoin
