you're saying maxis aren't supposed to use bitcoin for what it was actually made to do? ... He might mean this. Hey BTC finally breached the $1 million USD mark, wow. Unfortunately $1 million only buys you a snickers in today's money thanks to presidents HillyBillyBob Clinton Jr, Camel Z. Harris Jr, Hunter Biden Jr and Donald Trump Jr Jr. How long did you say you were hodling again?Well almost agree with HI-TEC99… HODL doesn't mean cut off your life spendings and live a miserable life, while hodling a stash like “my precious”. At the same time it also depends how much are in in Bitcoin. To me HODL means don’t touch it, unless you are left with no other option. I remember in OCT/NOV of 2020 I was about to sale “some” for an urgent need but then at the last moment fulfilled that need with a credit card and paid back it in monthly installments (0% interest) that’s how you HODL… resist as much as possible!!! In BitcoinBunny case if you going to hodl that long… let me tell you… you are going to spoil you grand kids… if you know what I mean. Hodl should not stop you from taking btc out if you are in trouble to I think a lot of people have the btc maxi attitude of hodl can never be touched and if you do you are a failure but some things are more important then profiting. If you need help with medical bills or anything that has come up that you did not expect and could cause problems just use the money you have saved and if some of that is being hodl then do not worry about it. The people who refuse to touch it and then get into more trouble are not impressing any one.

Bloomberg docu about mining in Texas for a climate panic piece fairly balanced I must say (title says cRyPTo but it's mostly about Bitcoin) "Getting Warmer Episode 2: Cleaning Up Crypto" https://www.bloomberg.com/news/videos/2023-02-09/getting-warmer-episode-2-cleaning-up-cryptowhat I hate is that these documentaries most of the time only care about the mining side but not about the important use cases of Bitcoin itself... It comes off as if mining could have some benefit for the grid but other than that Bitcoin is just a fringe useless money making scheme

Sad day: Localbitcoins.com is no more. Btc going down again, localbitcoins shut down and I am still not legendary it looks like it is a unlucky day for us all. I wonder who will replace localbitcoins I hope Binance does not they already have a monopoly on the exchange market. I hope we get a new service created by someone here who is trustworthy and tries to stop these giants of exchanges taking all the money and charging expensive fees for their 'service' I wonder how much the news of localbitcoins will affect the price? Do we expect this to have a big impact or does it not have enough user base in 2023? I know many years ago it was the place to trade btc and was the most popular at 1 time.

interesting how reliable is that source? This has not been talked about in any of the other topics about localbitcoins I wonder if they have got them selves into legal trouble and will be battling that and do not want it to affect their customers. I saw some members speculating that they are only shutting down temporary because they announce that they are redesigning their website but members are receiving a notification which says they have 12 months to withdraw their funds. If it is because of breaching this the case in court could last more then 12 months and the redesign of their website might be a cover up for the legal trouble they are in. Turns out that this is a very reliable source and it looks like localbitcoin could be in trouble and I would recommend any one that has funds on the website withdraw them asap do not wait for a couple of months because localbitcoins said you have to withdraw in 12 months they could get shut down and taken over by the authorities for this.

Its like Jerry Springer except the people never agreed to be on the show. Some empty calorie intake and major douchebaggery on both sides but yes it is entertaining lol Jerry! Jerry! Jerry! .. once he started grabbing the iPad and smashing it, calling police saying "5 white guys" are around him.. Reno 911 instantly popped into my head: https://youtu.be/9RZR4iKDixE?t=125or for an interesting twist: https://youtu.be/MVZv5vfAWn8?t=153

I read the article, but there is no mention of LB anywhere (unless I missed it). Maybe it's just two events that are not directly related? About 3 weeks ago, we had a thread published in the Legal board on the subject of that exchange.
interesting how reliable is that source?
You've never heard of Europol? Well, it's not exactly a third-rate news portal that publishes clickbait headlines to get as many clicks as possible. Headquartered in The Hague, the Netherlands, Europol’s mission is to support its Member States in preventing and combating all forms of serious international and organised crime, cybercrime and terrorism. Europol also works with many non-EU partner states and international organisations.

Same thoughts not sure how much is this reliable but the way all details have been put looks pretty much convincing. Such a sad demise of such huge platform, 10 years is a long time. However I love the way they have announced this news… it’s all about Bitcoin “was established to bring Bitcoin Everywhere” and they almost did it. https://twitter.com/localbitcoins/status/1623683223178862593

You know, I am glad that centralized staking services on exchanges are getting bent over by the government. It was only a matter of time anyway. You cannot centralized something which is meant to be decentralized.
But what is the SEC going to do about DeFI? Kick and scream and achieve nothing? Because there is nothing they can do.

Sad day: Localbitcoins.com is no more. Really sad man. I still remember when a lot of years ago use the platform when nobody ask for anything and all was so smooth. I left them a long time ago when they start to ask more info and when the laws comes. I remember in that time i switched to Localcryptos/ethereum (also rest in peace), and always think LocalBitcoin its gonna never shut down because they are gona be the "white market" for ever, but seems like the regulations and the mega Binance with the p2p destroy them.
