"Bitcoin crashes on fears of government ban!"
"Bitcoin crashes due to another fork threat!"
Blah blah blah. Some shit, different year.  Roll Eyes

"Bitcoin crashes due to child pornography permanently written into the blockchain"

I want no part of any of that.

Well they already put goatse on there  Cheesy

It was quickly censored.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-ordinals-creators-look-for-fix-after-first-instance-of-shock-porn

It was censored the same way that nefarious links added to the blockchain are censored by most blockchain data reading websites. This one I think contains all of them uncensored. Its maintained by a forum member, Anduck.

https://bitcoinstrings.com/all

I do fear the general public may think that the images are being stored as a jpeg, where it can be easily clicked on and view like a native image on a computer.

The image above is derived from the following string....

"20d669557638a6b3488d09f7422d32850c2a25d80661e6d6f479cfcb9898b3e82fac0063036f726 401010a696d6167652f6a706567004d0802ffd8ffe000104a46494600010100000100010000ffdb 004300080606070605080707070909080a0c140d0c0b0b0c1912130f141d1a1f1e1d1a1c1c20242 e2720222c231c1c2837292c30313434341f27393d38323c2e333432ffdb0043010909090c0b0c18 0d0d1832211c2132323232323232323232323232323232323232323232323232323232323232323 23232323232323232323232323232323232ffc0001108016801e003012200021101031101ffc400 1c0000020301010101000000000000000000030401020500060708ffc40....."

I won't post the full string... but it will still need a front end application that can decode and display that content.

It is up to the end user if they want to generate that image from the code above.

I'm not too sure the legal ramifications, is someone was to include "child pornography". Will that constitute having "child pornography" if you own a full node? is it any different from owning an "AI" that could generate "child like pornography"

BTW, as of this post, it is still being displayed on ordinals website...

Nice bear market rally.

Don’t be too happy.

12k coming fags.
No, 12K won't come with just a measly market rally buddy. Now you see what Cathie Wood said: Inflation is the confiscation of wealth. People need Bitcoin

Likewise, the words of a Strike CEO: Bitcoin will run by itself no matter what. Bitcoin is unstoppable ✊

And I totally disagree with what Billionaire Charlie Munger said: Bitcoin is not a currency or a commodity, it's a gamble. Source: https://twitter.com/BitcoinMagazine

This means that 12K is not what many people expected and because more people need Bitcoin as Cathie Wood said, the increase in the price of Bitcoin will be more dominant to occur in this year than the large rally or bear market as happened last year

If anybody's bored and wants something to play with, here's a bash script to estimate the number of days until the next halving

Code:
#!/bin/bash
date --iso-8601
bid=$(curl -s "https://www.bitstamp.net/api/ticker/" | jq -r ".bid")
ask=$(curl -s "https://www.bitstamp.net/api/ticker/" | jq -r ".ask")
#p0 is midmarket price to 2 decimals
P0=$(bc -l <<< "scale=2; ($bid+$ask)/2")
echo "mid-market BTCUSD: "$P0
#height=$(curl -s "https://blockchain.info/latestblock" | jq -r ".height")
height=$(wget -q -O - "https://blockchain.info/latestblock" | jq -r ".height")
time=$(wget -q -O - "https://blockchain.info/latestblock" | jq -r ".time")
#May 11, 2020 19:23 halving time 1589225023
#seconds since last halving (sslh) = $time-1589225023
sslh=$(($time-1589225023))
#days since last halving (dsince) = seconds/86400
dsince=$(bc -l <<< "scale=6; $sslh/86400")
#projected days of 2020-2024 halving (dproj) =  (time-1589225023)/((height/210000-3)*86400)
dproj=$(bc -l <<< "scale=6; $dsince/(($height/210000)-3)")
echo "projected duration of the current halving:"
echo $dproj
#rounding procedure
#extract decimals, double, add 1
num=$(bc -l <<< "scale=6; 2*($dproj-${dproj%.*})+1")
#truncate, subtract 1, divide by 2
num=$(bc -l <<< "scale=6; (${num%.*}-1)/2")
#add to original variable
dproj=$(bc -l <<< "scale=6; $dproj+$num")
#truncate
dproj=${dproj%.*}
echo $dproj "days"

Exactly. Not really a big deal. It will be something people need to explicitly seek out in order to see, not something one can just stumble across. As it always has been.

What I don't understand: some are saying higher fees due to ordinals could mean increase of USD/BTC.  But wouldn't miners be able to sell BTC for cheaper prices than usual, when they made more revenue off fees?

higher fees might speed up a fee-based mining model though that would eventually be needed, when block rewards get too low, due to the halvings ...however that's still long time ahead...
