The Spreadcoin wallet is pretty unstable. That's why I'm not keeping my SPR on there until they say we need to. It is safer on an excahange. My wallet went on a fork the first time I DL it. The dev said delete every file and reinstall was the only option. Since I hadn't backed it up yet, I would have lost all my SPR if I had already sent it.

So try to avoid using the SPR wallet.

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

You should always backup wallet.dat (especially just after you add a passphrase), and regularly thereafter.

Usually you should not delete wallet.dat from the data directory, even if you have backed it up recently, similarly for the [coinname].conf file.

I've never had a problem with it and have used it since launch with as much as 20 gpus mining to it and as little as 0. Anything can fork, but odds are you were mining to it when it wasn't in sync with the rest of the network or something was blockin/slowing the connection.

Anyways, wallet is fine, but I would recommend downloading the chain snapshot from the spread thread as it's an older coin with lots of history. Might have to go back a few pages in thread to find it though.

if bittrex agrees to help with the adding of helium based on snapshot from SPR, it would be the best solution. moving your coins around is always risky

Alright guys little confused here, what's better to do sell the SPR soon as snapshot occurs and hope I don't loose too much on the drop of value of SPR or buy helium as soon as it's launched for lower price, what's less risky,do we know the price helium will start at?

I've held Spreadcoin for around 3 years+, and mined it for about a year+,
and suffice to say, I've never had an issue with the wallet. (That includes the version I had before the current one.)
Though I did at one point, erroneously think the vanity address generator was broken.
But once I figured out what I was doing wrong, it now works great. Its an awesome function, I might add.
It's actually been one of the most stable, reliable crypto wallets I run on my pc.

Initially it will likely be around 3.6 coins per block based on my calculations - just a rough estimate though. (Less masternode and dev fund amounts; 45% & 10% respectively)

If there was a prize for Bitcointalk thread with most
repeated questions, I do believe this one would win... Roll Eyes

Usually that indicates the information is not adequately stated, you sly lil devil  Cool

Or there are too many pages for everyone to read....

M

Or that #2 post post marked "RESERVED FOR REGULAR UPDATES." has never been updated.

It's really not that hard for them to actually use it and there would not be so much confusion.

I know there is a Slack channel but again what's the use of scrolling through so much stuff just to find what you are looking for.

Says a lot without saying anything at all.

If you are going to leave your BTC on an exchange please send it to this address instead 1GH3ub3UUHbU5qDJW5u3E9jZ96ZEmzaXtG, I will at least use the money better than someone who steals it from the exchange. Thanks Wink

Hi guys,

Is anybody able to tell me how launched coins work with their pricing?

will Helium be very low to start with, do the developers decide a starting cost per coin or is that down to the the market?

Since it is a 1:1 airdrop for SPR holders, I believe it will start in the same ball-park. After that, expect some wild swings. SPR is going to tank.

SPR is going to tank.

Agreed.  SPR is useful only because of the switch to helium.

spread is the same as the gazillion other shitcoins out there with the advantage of seniority.
yes, it will tank after the helium launch but considering it was a stable 8 to 10 k sat coin for
2 years or so it will survive the helium launch imo .my prediction is it will bottom out around 20k sat
which means it will still have doubled its value in bitcoin (even more in fiat) in a year.
nothing to sneeze at. and early hodelers/miners of this coin like myself have made out quite nicely, thank you!
oh shit...i think i posted this in the wrong thread, oh well.....

I can't see, how sending SPR to the SPR wallet is complicated. You just need to check your receiving address and copy it to the Bittrex withdrawal box. Same as any other coin. Everyone in the crypto world surely need to know how to transfer coins between exchanges and wallets. Everyone has done it at least once when transferred BTC to the exchange to buy any coins.

If the community didn't insist on exchange involvement, the whole project could have started by now. The whole process would have been cheaper and quicker.

When you say the same "ball-park" how will it physically get to the same ball-park?

Right from day 1 the second it launches let's say @ $1.75 or from the moment that the market starts buying it in mass and push the price up?

He meant, he believe the price probably will start out as the same as the SPR price now (I think so too)... Then the market will decide. Nobody knows. Some people will drop the 'free' HLM to the market pushing the price down. In the same time, some people who want to buy HLM but wasn't confident with the swap will come on-board and buy after the launch, pushing the price up.... Which group is bigger, nobody knows.

Helium News #11
Hi

There was a pretty big announcement (text wise), here's the dry summary with 82% reduction (from 1699 words to 308)

Snapshot date

- There is a snapshot date, but it's waiting for one more confirmation before it's announced. Just to be sure.
- From Karmashark: "We are hoping to snapshot within the next two weeks"
- Snapshot script is built. Costs are paid. Security, process flow and documentation has been a focus.
- Still no word about which exchange is doing the snapshot, so keep it in your wallet Wink

PR activities

- Coins101 is preparing to present at the Digital Construction Week.
- Working on press releases with a number of crypto media outlets for another wave of news. Cost of this is paid from Coins101 and Karmashark's own pockets. New releases should have more substance and less blandness.
- Printing 100 physical Helium coins from a prominent coin creator. Since the media loves posting pictures about physcal coins. (December)
- Karmashark and BlockchainTV were at World Blockchain Forum and accomplished a few things:
   - Met hedge funds and VC talent looking to get into the blockchain industry.
   - Begin to insert Helium into key players minds.
   - Got new speaking opportunities.
- Karmashark (Canada) and Coins101 (UK) also met during the WBF trip and discussed stuff

Marketing materials being created

- New Heliumpay.com
- New Bitcointalk ANN thread graphics.
- New polished design for whitepaper
- First professional Helium video for cryptocurrency beginners (released next week)
- More videos are planned as complexity of topics increase.

Slack mood

- Many people are pissed off that the announcements have become seldom. Many have sold large holdings. Then there are those who are in it for the long term and not much worried at all.
- @teela is keeping people chill Smiley
- @gjhiggins, the snapshot script god, has been keeping us entertained with philosophy and complex code examples.
- Karmashark gave us a view of how it feels in the back room: https://hackmd.io/s/Sy4s1_1hW

thanks for the info!
it would be nice if your team can make a video tutorial how to setup a helium masternode so noobs like me can setup it without problems Smiley

a video like this would be very nice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lybtz7iucVs
