The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

Is one server better than the other using cgminer on linux?

Losing hundreds of Bitcoins with the best scammers in the business - BFL, Avalon, KNC, HashFast.

I bet the idea is to cripple the total network hash rate just as the next difficulty level is set, to make the next 2 weeks easier to mine.

FWIW, I use Phoenix's -b flag to just set my backup to arsbitcoin.com, versus my normal server2.arsbitcoin.com. That worked too.

Sorry, seems I forgot to reset the warning flag last time there was a server issue, so I didn't get a text message when Server2 was having trouble this time.  It is back now.

I've got a problem on my side, I get long poll IO errors. I know this because it happened to me on a few other pools, haven't had time troubleshooting my lan network, I have an option to disable LP at Slush's, so I was asking if ARS had it because I'm mining here for time being.

Yup. Just got in this morning and found my miners having connection problems. Can't get at the site either.

The main server stopped responding.  Server2 relies on the main server for submitting shares, so we're completely down at the moment.

Not sure if it is a hosting issue, or if the DDoS started to point our way or some such.  Trying to get the main server back.

Got a response from amazon.  Seems to be a hardware failure.  They are investigating.  Hopefully i'll be able to restart the instance on different hardware soon.
