Why even reply to that guy?  At least don't quote him so I don't have to read it.  It should auto-hide quotes from people you have ignored.
Compromise: I kept the reply but removed his quote. ;-)

He will not enter discusion here, he stop to talk with individal members a long time ago. So how can you assume that his post will case more shitstorm then already is, and it is because hes lack of gut saying something as: iam here, working on refunds and have problems.
We heard many times, few more weeks and what happened, nothing. So why you assue somethng will change?
Hes scared and afraid to post, but in the same time he owe a lot of money and dare to be silent and abond the forum!
Wake up, he proved his bad attitude and will continue to do nothing, because others will have excuse for him.

We can not do anything but wait, like before. Still, i will try something at my own.

Saying that "It's complicated" is a fairly poor excuse.  If he's willing to process partial refunds at ~$125/btc or whatever it was, he obviously has the BTC in-hand to do that.  He has also already dealt with people requesting and receiving refunds for chips in BTC- so he has a procedure in place.  Set up a google doc form, have people fill in their request, he verifies it against his ledger, and processes the refunds.  I fully understand that it took a long time to manually verify that information and individually issue each refund... but hell, he hasn't even *asked* for people to request refunds.  It shows no good faith effort to move this process along.

All of that combined with the fact that it's been over a month since his last post about refunds is making me not very happy.  I've been willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for a long time, but the BFL-style "wait 2 more weeks" excuses are starting to wear VERY thin on my patience.

I think if Steamboat wants us to keep waiting, the least he could do is agree to send a copy of his photo ID, etc. to a mutually agreed upon party? I think that would be appropriate since John K is MIA.

Would one of the forum members who is able to communicate with the elusive Mr. Steamboat care to ask for his documentation?

If I don't get my BTC I'd like to at least like to have have the satisfaction of having his doxx on this forum - after all, he would do the same to any one of us...   Shocked

It's possible that he's mining the BTC to pay the refunds and plans on giving us all of his profits.

If this is true, I will very publicly apologize.

I just really doubt this is true.

that's the only thing I can think of right now.  I don't care how complicated it is to refund a bunch of people, it shouldn't take over a month.

I think snare rolls should be used as a currency.

The act of refunding isn't the complication... it's the recovery of costs that takes time.  If he's giving us a fixed conversion, and we're bullish on bitcoins... shouldn't we be supporting his effort rather than getting our panties in an epic wad?  I want my money back, bitcoins or not, but if I have to wait another 6 months to get my investment back at a conversion rate of ~120, then i'm all for it.

What if i bought 100 chips and because he messed up shipping i now also have assembly...and there is no answer, no ETA, nothing.
He was very intrested to get the avalon chips and answered mails, after that this is all i got:

"Good afternoon Adrian,
The package just arrived. We will be preparing your return package and remittance, and sending both shortly.
Thank you again for your patience and understanding through all of this."

After this mail...no more answers, just silence, and this was on 20th of december, clearly we dont have the same definition on shortly.

So judge for yourselves...
Lack of communication=cowerdness, no matter how shitty the situation is youll always have the others respect if you cominicate and have the courage to face them even on the forum.

IMO He doesnt care, just like all of us he wanted profit...and we will never know if he did, all i know is i(we) lost time and money.

The question is "With who's miners?" Has ANYONE with hosted miners gotten paid their dividend as promised?

It would really ease the tension if at the very least he did a google docs form so we could put forward our refund claims - I really don't care if it then takes him another month to refund me but the fact is it does not look like hes even close to that stage

He used our funds to develop a custom website for taking orders. If he hired a competent developer, this means he should already have a database of assembly and hosting orders. He should also already know what's been shipped, and have marked it as shipped in the database.

If an order wasn't marked as shipped, then he needs to refund the assembly. I'm failing to see the complexity here. Steamboat knows full well who is owed refunds. If not, he should. After all, it's the law that he keep those kinds of records.

Its obvious. In september at least he logged every day even not posting and then this thread was a lot more active.
Now, he does not have a face to login....pathetic sissy.
Like i say all along, people does not change, if he see no reaction then he just get worst and worst then before.

We need to act now, visit him in person if we must or publish abou this everywhere, just dont contunue to lay low.

Steamboat, come here, let talk, let we settle problems and issues and to find a solution. Its a havy load and you will see, we both will feel a lot better, be a man and sort this pronto. Conesequence can be hard on your future, its not a game.
Communication is a key and a good start.

Well, my k16s arrived... finally, was a little surprised... no comunication whatsoever regarding progress, tracking number, just confirmation that the chips arrived and remittance shortly.
After consulting with the tracking number today, the chips spent 10 days in USA, after that another 10 days in my countrys customs..given they arrived on 1st of January so 10 days gone with the wind, a thing i would have known if i had the tracking number.
Anyway im glad its over...maybe its some kind of relief for you guys that SBs comapany is still going...but the lack of comunication is awfull.

I hope he sorts out everybodys problem though.

It looks like John K may eventually return to us:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=412061.0

Anyone wanna try their luck at getting Steamboat's full details from John K?

dmcdad - give him a call again get another update.

Going forward I think if we don't start to see refunds coming in we start another thread - try work out who is owed what then proceed with some legal advise - If the amount owed is enough it might be in peoples interest to pursue

Good idea. Maybe it would expedite refunds should Steamboat choose to look at that list.

Starting a Google Doc with addresses and signed messages would show a person that it was the true owner.

Good point about legal advise.  If a lawyer saw a legit list (with BTC signatures) and the amounts owed, maybe they would be willing to take it on, seeing the total amount owed.  At least it may help Steamboat pick up the pace.

Lawyers are parasites, a class action lawsuit would leave us with 60% of whatever steamboat is able to come up with and would likely be repaid in USD vs. our $125/BTC exchange rate locked in during September.  Lawsuits are also slow, likely wouldn't see any results for another 6-months to a year.  IMO legal route should be the last and final resort.  I.e, when Steamboat and his minions disappear, after John K releases his identity.

For those users who actually know Steamboat (we're glaring at you unaccepted) you may want to consider tapping your pal on the shoulder and advise a status update.  The duration inbetween status updates is growing, along with this crowds anger and frustration. Both are easily mitigated by a short and sweet update.

We don't need another update. We need a path to closure of this BS. I'm sick of checking this thread.
