Ok now that we'll finally be getting these, what is everyone using to power these and switch on the power?  Is everyone using the paperclip method with an atx power supply or has anyone made a switch?  Also the only thing I need yet is a decent USB hub.  Any cheap 8-10 ports that you all recommend?

Update:

Assembly status:
We have completed both board level and final assembly. Unit testing has been delayed due to firmware issues and lack of ktest utility. We have been testing with rough values using the old firmware, which will assist us in expediting final testing, which expect to complete within two days.

The firmware bug causing high error rates has been discovered and corrected as of early this morning. We are continuing to run tests, but believe the base firmware is now stable. We have also greatly reduced the performance issues when connecting multiple units within CGminer. Currently, we are running stable at 300mhz at 4.9gh/s, with less than 0.5% errors.

We are continuing to work on the USB bootloader, which we hope to have finalized this week. Once the USB bootloader has been completed, we will begin work on the I2C connection and optimizing the firmware, while continuing to optimize CGminer.

We have received requests to ship the units in their current state, without the ability to update the firmware via USB. We are now accepting requests to ship units as-is, but advise against it. This option should only be considered if you have a large order and are comfortable with programming. Currently, the only method of flashing the units is to use a Pickit3 Pic programmer with a suggested pogo pin adapter, connected to a host running MPLAB IPE/IDE. This is a fairly complex process for those unfamiliar with programming, and materials costs are ~$80. Units shipped without the USB bootloader will require initially flashing the units using the on board ICSP pads to update the firmware to allow USB updates.

If you would like to request your units shipped as-is, please ensure the shipping address provided on your liquidsyndesigns.com account is correct, and reply to this email with the subject “Please ship my units without USB bootloader”.

I can't wait to see the PIC16 USB bootloader source code! It'll be the first I've seen available anywhere.

Ten bucks says its well more than "the next few days" before we get details on hardware refunds. We've heard that "update soon" bullshit before, and too often. I KNEW he would completely avoid the assembly refund issue! I am REALLY pissed now! I'll be spending "the next few days" filing legal complaints.

Don't get me wrong - this is semi good news for those still waiting on miners... I'm glad to see that someone may actually get them. Congrats to those to actually FINALLY get started mining.

I can't see how it makes any sense to wait for the USB bootloader at this point.

If the boards are hashing well on the current (non-USB) firmware, getting them and extracting any remaining scraps of mining revenue NOW makes the most sense. These boards have very little life left as it is.

I sent an e-mail requesting my boards shipped as-is. It doesn't sound like the eventual ICSP update will be that bad if I need a newer firmware version.

The power draw from a single 6 pin PCI-E connector is supposed to be 75 watts. From an 8 pin it's supposed to be 150 watts (I think).

So, if you're putting 3 x K16 on a 6 pin, do you have some sort of 8 pin to 6 pin adapter for the extra power?

Second question: Have you guys measured the power draw of a K16 with a Kill-a-watt meter at different levels of overclocking, say stock 282 mhz, 300 mhz, 350 mhz?? Because that would be informative.

I've waited this long, I would like my setup to be as efficient as possible, and it would be a shame to have the place burn down because of overloaded cables.

I highly doubt you could put more than 2 x K16's on a 6 pin cable, without an 8-pin to 6-pin converter.

Caveat to this: Some modular power supplies seem to supply the full 150 watts throuh a 6 pin connector, so that can work with that type. I have a Coolermaster Gold that seems to be that type, but my Rosewill 800 seems to have 8 pin outputs.

I can't tell in the picture, but what's the connector on the power supply end?  Is it one of those modular plugs?  If that's the case then he's fine because he's only putting 30W (or whatever the K-16 draws) out of the 6 pin PCI-E connectors.  He should be concerned about the power draw on the PS end connector and wiring.
