Ok,to get these to work in Win7 64bit:

1.Go here for CGMiner 3.7.0(it works best for me),get the windows.zip file:

If you want the latest cgminer,go here:

2.Get Zadig,I DL'ed this one-zadig_v2.0.1.160.7z

http://sourceforge.net/projects/libwdi/files/zadig/

3.Plug one K16 USB cable (be sure its powered up+fan hooked to 4pin molex) & install Zadig,it should show that its driver installed.

4.Reboot when asked to.Now make a bat file,in Notepad copy & paste this & add your pool info:

cgminer -o http://pool:port -u username -p password

If you want a backup pool,use this:

cgminer -o http://pool1:port -u pool1username -p pool1password -o http://pool2:port -u pool2usernmae -p pool2password

Call it cgminer.bat,save it to your desktop,paste it in cgminer folder,double click the bat file to run cgminer.

Now add your miners one at a time.You can plug your fan into the board after its mining.

DONE!!!  

Edit:cgminer has a temp cutoff of 54C,be sure to add fans cooling the backside (opposite side of heatsink) to bring temps down.

I was going to make that post a week ago,but I was having issues it was cgminer & me butting heads,turned out my little 250 watt PSU couldn't handle 12 fans either  

I tried over & over to get a config file to work,never happened...............so after trial & error,a simple bat file did it

The single ONE thing that has made this fiasco so bad is Steamboat's complete lack of respect for this community as shown by lack of any real communication. And I'm plenty pissed about it. Not to mention surprised and disappointed.

The costs do not fall on the customer who does not benefit from the product or service. It was agreed that he would have a working product within 72 hours of chip arrival which was an agreement he breached, therefore he cannot keep a single bitcoin/dollar. I kept telling you guys to be careful from the start, but no one would listen. This is clearly going into fraud territory. If you do not receive back 100% of what you paid, you are being scammed. 25% returned, while he invests the 75% into his business and you get no stake in his corporation is fraudulent. Given the unlikelyhood of a USB boot loader being developed, It seems as though the process is kind of backwards. Seems like SB should tell folks he's shipping the miners as-is unless they insist on waiting.

Just in case anyone out there is still confused about if they should wait for a boot loader - my personal opinion is that it's impossible to fit the bootloader AND the firmware code in the limited PIC16 memory. If you are waiting for a USB bootloader to have your miners shipped, don't. Get them ASAP.

NOTE: as soon as i say "impossible", someone will do it. lol. Lets just say getting all the code to fit in 16k memory is VERY unlikely. As with certain other components in the K16 design, the choice of that specific component (PIC16) may have been ill-advised.

Can I ask how many of you guys agree with this?

I've been holding out for the bootloader but I'm $#@%! tired of waiting on these things to be honest. (my BFL's have been lonely for months...)

The K16's I received 'as-is' worked straight out of the box. Of course I had to install cgminer and WinUSB (zadig) first for Windows, but I moved them to linux and there I just compiled cgminer and off they went.

You should *not* wait for the usb bootloader if you won't be flashing the firmware anyway.  It works now and any fixes will have a marginal impact on performance. i2c chaining will not work, so you'll need to attach each one with USB instead. Other than that, they're good to go.

It's impossible for us to get 100% of our refund back because steamboat converted some btc --> usd to cover the parts costs, exactly how much he had swapped over is anyone's guess and is why a bit of transparency would go a long way. But with the way the price is sky rocketing at the moment an update from steamboat would be good. I doubt he'll try to scam us, if you look at his replies in this thread and emails everything has been done to the best of his ability and quite professionally so I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the reason we're not getting any update is because he's flat out organising and shipping miners for those who accepted them.

+1  Steamboat has done everything in his power to manage his time wisely, in my opinion.  This is a large and intense process--he's done the best I would ever expect someone to do given the issues we had in the supply chain.

I believe they have options for receiving payments in either BTC or USD. We really have no way of knowing what option SB chose. For all we know, he may have even taken part in USD and part in BTC.

I was just doing some quick calculations involving the shipping cost I paid. I paid $46.45 USD shipping costs, which worked out to be 0.46377995 BTC.

At current mtgox prices, the equivalent USD value of those BTC today is $200.39. The Bitstamp value is $189.18! For shipping.

Given that SB had no reason whatsoever spend the shipping funds, I demand immediate payment of AT LEAST my shipping funds, IN BTC.

I'm tired of watching BTC prices going higher and higher knowing that someone ELSE is profiting on the rise of MY BTC.

I'm seriously seeking legal advise at this stage as we were promised the miners will be ready for deliver the next day after chips are delivered... what the fuck if going on here? FFS I want my BTC back like yesterday!

The miners are functional but lack USB boot loader and i2c chaining. That is what I think they are working on. I also don't have miners nor my refund request "recieved". I cannot individually link each miner conveniently for my current situation as that would require more investment I currently do not have which is probably not a wise choice neither was investing in this whole group buy in the first place

So if you can mine without needing either the USB boot loader or i2c chaining probably best to ask for shipment asap.

Secondly, I'm not sure how to connect it to the computer if don't have a USB connector.

 The bootloader code is required to update the firmware via USB connection. It can connect to a computer just fine and mine over USB presently. Speaking as someone who has a number of these K16's mining in my farm presently.

 If you are not concerned about needing to easilly update the firmware at a future date, and wish to start mining ASAP, I would recommend you ask for your miners to be shipped immediately. It is unlikely you will ever need to update the firmware.

 The only thing I might want to update the firmware for, is if they ever fix the issue with needing to re-plug the fan on the board header in order to get the system to recognize them on boot, however, I'm going to re-wire my K16 rack this weekend to run the fans off 4-pin Molex, so the fan bug won't be much of an issue for me soon.

 If you'd like to update the firmware at some future time on these, you will need to acquire a PiCkit 3 programmer like the one described here. http://www.microchip.com/stellent/idcplg?IdcService=SS_GET_PAGE&nodeId=1406&dDocName=en538340&redirects=pickit3

Thanks a ton for your help! I'll send SB an email now and request my miner to be shipped. I've googled ic2 and USB boot loader before (images only) and when I saw that it's got some hardware and hardwiring stuff into it I gave up; never been a fan of these things. I also presumed since it's the USB connector, there will be no easy way for me to connect to the computer and mine.

Like you said, I think I'll be selling these as scrap metal before I'd need to update the firmware on them. With $0.27 + GST for electricity here, I think before I know it it's gonna be unprofitable :-)
