So what are the added parts needed to use the board exactly? I don't understand the difference between that and the PCB components.

emphasis added … Klondike K16 mining unit: Utilizes 16 ASIC chips to produce 4.5gh/s per unit. Assembly: Includes assembly of ASICs, PCB based on the Klondike K16 design, and necessary PCB components.
Full kit: Includes the assembly service and a DIY kit which includes: heat sink, standoffs, fan, screws, thermal paste, and USB cable.
Fully assembled unit: Includes assembly of one Klondike K16 ASIC board and all DIY kit parts fully assembled. Obviously there are a lot of details & variables involved with a purchase like this - do be sure to read carefully.

steamboat, if we ordered before assembly was available, can we add that onto our order now? (I have some chips in batch 3 and am interested in adding kit+assembly)
Yes, you may request assembly at any time. Batch 1 customers have been sent an email regarding assembly, and a second email will be sent this week.
Is it better to pay the 1.376 BTC and the 133.5 assembly now?
To my knowledge, steamboat is only accepting payment for chips now. You won't be able to pay for assembly until he has the chips. Assembly will not be required until the price and process has been finalized.
Are these shipping now?
Not yet, no. Would estimate late Sept, Oct.-ish... we hope... The chips are slated to arrive early to mid August. The assembled units are scheduled to be shipped 3 business days later. That is SERIOUSLY exciting!! BTW, I don't think I specified when I ordered if I want assembly or not (I do). Was I supposed to have already done that, or are you planning to ask everyone at some point? Thanks again for all the work on this! You may request assembly at any time.
hello, how much will it be just for the DIY kit without assembly?
The DIY kit contains the accessories needed for the unit to function, and costs $28.50. The board components cost $35, and may or may not be offered as a kit.
hello, how much will it be just for the DIY kit without assembly?
About $35 for K16-board & parts only-no assembly or ASIC chips. Not sure if a heatsink is included either. The design is not finalized yet,so it may be more, but not much, maybe a few bucks. A really good deal,if you ask me The board component cost for the K16 is $35, and does not include the heat sink, which is part of the DIY kit offered for assembled units. A component kit may or may not be offered.
What is the difference between fully assembled unit and just PCB with Assembly? There's a 35 dollar price difference between the two and I don't quite understand what they mean.
with fully assembled unit you don't have to send anything, with just PCB assembly, you need to send the extra components beside the chips. I believe this may be a language barrier issue. The fully assembled unit does not require anything additional other than power and a host to function. The assembly only option requires the additional parts found in the DIY kit to function properly. All purchases received, recorded, replied.

Full kit: Includes the assembly service and a DIY kit which includes: heat sink, standoffs, fan, screws, thermal paste, and USB cable. sorry one more clarification then, the "full kit" diy is 1.376 BTC correct? or Assembly and DIY Kit: The DIY kit and fully assembled PCB are $123.5, to be paid in BTC. Fully Assembled Unit: The fully assembled unit, including all necessary hardware, is $133.5, to be paid in BTC. do i send you 133.5 at the current going bitcoin rate then?

Its possible, but out of all the options for ascis right now, this is the cheapest. Other than the WAAAAY over priced USB block erupter.

Except that AM Erupters are available for purchase, and shipping within 5 days right now. We're still going to need to wait for a while to get these little guys into our hands.

Assembly and DIY kit.
I finally got the BTC together to do this. And just as I get ready to pay, sample chips come out. I will take this as a *good* sign (far from risk free, but good).

Avalon has sent an email stating the samples have shipped. They have also stated each address is only eligible for one batch's worth of sample chips. As soon as the chips arrive, they will be sent to BkkCoins to further development of the Klondike project.
Batch 5 will be finalizing shortly. Any orders placed after Batch 5 has been completed will be attributed to Batch 6.
