Steamboat: please, if not much trouble, provide inovice within the package when send internationaly. To some country declared value means nothing, they must have inovice so they can charge VAT (in my country 25%). That Vat charges goes on top of item price and shipping cost! Damn expensive, but there is nothing we can do... If you forget, then package can sit at customs for additional week or more, until I send customs all documents to complete customs process. I don't mind paying VAT, but to wait additional week because of that will be unecessary. Thanks a keep a good work  How much is 25% on the BTC you paid for your order? This can be quite interesting. For different people the cost of aquiring btc can be very different. Price is shown in $ but payment method is bitcoins. Steamboat site does provide inovice with all relevant details needed. I just ask to provide copy of the inovice within the package. So only the assembly etc is on the invoice, the actual chips are not? Because the chips I ordered were 'free' to me, since electricity is included in my rent and I mined it myself  Say I don't want fiat, I don't like it, I paid with bitcoin, not dollars. I didn't sell my bitcoin for fiat to get a product/service, I paid for a product/service with bitcoin, whatever happens to the bitcoin *after* the transaction isn't my business It'd be nice to have the invoice denominated in bitcoin, just to make a point 25% of my bitcoins now is a lot less in my country's fiat right now than it was a month ago. And I only want to convert from bitcoin to fiat to settle fiat bills/tax the day it's due because I don't want to SIT in fiat. Kind of the point of the whole mining bitcoin thing anyway, isn't it? I agree with you and would also like to see how would customs react and how would that end up when Inovice provided in btc only. But would rather do it with other products where time is not of essence This is asic miners after all where each day counts Yeah, chip price are not included but its a finish product as separate service and there is no need to included chip price. |

Automation for finish level and shipping option upgrades are in the queue. If these features are not implemented with enough time to change the status of your order prior to chip arrival, we will process them manually.
An invoice will be attached to each package, and every step will be taken to make sure the packages clear customs with little delay.
The website has been kept secret to this point. It appears the new server will be tested sooner than we had expected. Thankfully today is a holiday and most of you should be out enjoying the day off.
BTC denominated invoices will cause confusion when being processed by federal entities. The more "normal" the shipment, the better.

Have we heard anything from Avalon yet? From Avalon: the lead time on the chips is 9 to 10 weeks, 30 sample chips will be provided 4 weeks into ordering per 10,000 chips. |

Amen -- some of the things I've been reading about their Batch 2 miners is making me nervous. At least sending chips out should be a simpler proposition. |

I am not sure if this has been asked before but could you elaborate on the hosting contract? For example, who is responsible for power/network outage, software/pool misconfiguration etc. that can result in less payout compared to the expected profit(based on hashrate and difficulty +/- some reasonable %, but again how do we define this %)?

It looks like steamboat's heat sink is working nicely: The board is now mounted with thermal compound on a beautiful black heat sink sent to me for testing by steamboat. The chips are barely warm now. Note though that BKK still has the clock rate about 1/2 of what it will be (pending a capacitor that needs to be changed), so the chips will most likely end up being hotter than "barely warm." But still -- great news. |

yes - and good to keep in mind the conditions of his test environment: it's actually 34C at my work bench  good thing steamboat sent the heat sink! |

Two things.
One: Steamboat it really boosted my confidence in you to see that you had sent BKKCoins a heatsink. Shows dedication to the development and definitely makes you appear more legit in my book. So thanks for going the extra mile.
Two: Do we have the option of doing less than 16 chips on a board? My order was the max # of chips I could afford (which wasn't a multiple of 16), with the idea that I'd make the extras into K1's somehow and sell those. However, if I wanted 8 chips on a K16, would that be feasible? I'd expect the cost to be identical.

The optimum cost depends on how many you ordered -- the K16 board is the most cost effective.

Agreed. I have 41 chips, 16 in Group Buy #3 and 25 in Group Buy #5. For the #5, I originally intended to do 1 K16 and 9 K1's, selling some of the K1's. But At this point it'll be cheaper for me to go 1 K16 and 1 K16 with 8 chips, and then get the last 1 made into a K1. This way instead of $30 some odd a pop * 8, I have $100 some odd * 1. |

It isn't clear that Steamboat will permit partially populated boards or what they will cost. Stepping outside the normal with mass production is expensive. You might be forced to buy the extra chips from his extras if you want a K16. |

A lot of people ordered extras. There may be a chance to buy/sell the unneeded extras to make full K16 boards.

I purchased chips from batch 6. However, my plans have changed. If anyone is interested in purchasing them, I will be selling them for the exact cost I paid for them. Don't think I can refund them. I also have some avalon PCBs (10 of them), I'd like to sell as well.
