1080Ti Specific - Best mining option

Trying to setup dual PSUs on my mobo... I received my 2nd PSU today and was supposed to receive the ADD2PSU connector today too but USPS delivered to the wrong address and they are trying to find it... I doubt we will have any luck receiving it so I'll probably have to reorder it.

Anyways, I want to hook them up and turn the other PSU on manually.. What would be the most reliable method in doing this? I'm running cables now. Thanks

how do I figure out which pin is which? the EVGA cords are all black and not color coded, would it be in the manual?

evga has a tester that you just plug into your mobo cable that fulfills this function just plugin the only piece thatll fit into your mobo connection thats in your box

alright, this is a nightmare.. i got the mobo running with both PSU's now..

my initial problem was that i could only get 4 running and the fifth 1080ti would cause a "Code 12" error.. insufficient resources.

so i did some research and found that I should change "pci e" settings to Gen 1, which I dont have but i do have the PEG0 and PEG1 "Max Link Speed" and I set those to Gen1.. It also said to change "Above 4G Decoding" to enable, so I changed that from disabled to enabled...

Now all 5 cards are working, but they are running like absolute garbage. The power is all over the place and they are getting 200sols, 300sols and 400sols, with maybe 1 at 600sol/s

I'm going to throw this rig into the street

my mobo is the MSI Z270 SLI PLUS (MS-7A59)


any help would be appreciated. Some say to install to windows 8 or 10, I may just buy a copy of windows 10 and try that out. Currently using Win7 x64

Awesome, thanks man, was using a wire but it had me scared it would fall out after awhile.. Just found it on the bottom of the box, works perfect!

Ran each card individually, with their own riser and cords and they worked on par with the 680-710 sol/s, but the moment I go from 4 to 5 it runs worse than if I had 3

In my experience that could be motherboard. Some times the same motherboard need different settings.

You need to play with dmi-pci settings in bios. Try this:

1) dmi speed gen 1, pci speed auto
2) dmi speed gen 1, pci speed gen 1

also some mother boards got 2 different setting for pci slot. Play with this settings also.

Tried to set up Sniffdog on my PC running a GTX 1080 yesterday but no luck. The miner window closes right after it opens. Can't figure out why (unless there's some obscure code in there that prevents it from starting on anything else than a 1080Ti?)...

I have Win10, Powershell v5... any ideas?

Ah interesting, I didn't realise Sniffdog was switching between pools as well as algos within one pool.

Annoying to read about the crashes though. Same thing happened to me all the time using Nemosminer. In a way I find comfort in seeing I'm not the only one experiencing those issues.

No crashing of driver and sniffdog. every thing running smoothly. i just switched the power state of gpus to P0.
