I believe Bitcoin has a future in long term. It proved itself in the past years and it is getting widely popular. It just has a transaction fee problem atm.

What about the altcoins? Who does use them for real? Will people use them in the future for real purpose?

I only have a hope for ethereum and litecoin, but not for the rest. I am not even sure for eth and ltc.

If bitcoin solves the reansaction fee and time problem, I doubt eth and ltc even have a future.

I think in short term every thing is possible as we experienced high increase in prices of most of major altcoins such as Ethereum. But in long term everything depends on what will happen to Bitcoin.
In my opinion in future we will have only one acceptable cryptocurrency. If Bitcoin can solve its problems like high transaction fees that you mentioned, It will be that cryptocurrency. If not we should wait for another cryptocurrecncy that will replace Bitcoin.
We should also consider another important issue which is governments decisions. In future after accepting bitcoins by entire world, Governments would like to have more control on the system. We should wait for their decision whether they want bitcoin to be that major cryptocurrency or not.

One acceptable cryptocurrency is the future. And government pressure into that coin is the thing to discuss in the future.

But if governments try to control that system, alternative coins will survive in order to eliminate the pressure..

Clearly, you do not realize we have bitcoin because we do not want the governement to tell us what we can or cannot do. Unless they stop all internet, they cannot stop us. If needed we can expand zcash/zerocoin and ignore their dictate.

Maybe if our government change our economic status it possible we have better future in bitcoin and as well the alternative coins like eth,bitcoin cash litecoin etc. better acceptance to the change the digital era of crytocurrency in the world.Unless we support them to become one accept cryptocurrency.

Honestly, if the government can accept Bitcoin at now, we still can not using Bitcoin for daily. First, Bitcoin can not use for daily because it has high fees, need much time to wait confirm any transaction (average ~15 mins per block with highest fees). Second, Bitcoin system still bad and small, it can not receive a huge of numbers transaction in a short time. There are many examples can prove this problem.

I agree, altcoins have grown big lately and most traders are buying altcoins because they are hoping in time these altcoins will be worth something in the future. Many investors also do invest in altcoins especially those coins who have great projects and they could tell it could be big a few months after its ICO.

There is many altcoins that promises great utility in the future
if properly supported and the team delivers than they might become very usefull and will have great value in the future
some are already overvalued (be careful)
some are undervalued but you have to do your own research to find them

Not all of them has a good future there are altcoins that are created who does not have a good road map, we have to be selective when investing our money because if we are smart and we will be able to invest on an altcoins that has a great potential, we will be able to grow with them when they will be successful. Altcoins that has a great volume are most likely a trusted one, we should put our money with those trusted already as the support of the community is bigger.

Also, not only focus on the popular ones because there are low volume that are underrated that can make a big progress as the development continues.

It seems there are lot of altcoins. It is really hard to predict anything. (Recently I picked one Adzcoin. It seemed to grow well, but suddenly started dropping and still struggling to get up.)

At one stage I thought that I made a good investment, but now I am little embarrassed.

If you ask about whether Altcoin can succeed or not, it is the same as you're asking if cryptocurrency will succeed or not. Essentially, cryptocurrency will be one part of the economic future in the world. So when Bitcoin grows rapidly, Altcoin will also be known and become a tool for investment just like Bitcoin.

But there is also false or fake Altcoin that many circulating out there, Those are just another form of HYIP that requires you to invest but will be a scam sooner or later. We should only take care the Altcoin that already famous and succeed.

There are other coins that has potential to grow but of course the success of the altcoins depends on the investors who invest and believe in altcoins. Well i think most investors would use altcoins in trading as of the moment because we still doesn’t know which of them would go farther.
