Hi guys,
Can I run vega 64 in ubuntu for mining?
Searching google, it seems that it can't be done at the moment.

Care to share link?

Sorry, I didn't test prebuilt binaries from Github so I won't share ...
My own built binaries are without  dev fee so it will be not fare to redistribute

Vega can do ~4000h/s cryptonight-lite.
I managed to compile xmr-stak-amd for it. Or you can find ready windows build on github with 1% fee.

2 Truthchanter
For cryptonight 900+ mem speed can be enough but for eth you'll need 1100 and Vega64 bios

Nice!  Shocked Shocked So Aeon is even more profitable than Monero.
I am gonna try to compile the algo with stak too.

There is no big difference in mining calculators for monero and aeon.

I got a mining rig with nvidia GPUs but i've been thinking on getting a vega 56 for my gaming/daily pc.

If i optimize the vega for mining monero (registry edit, blockchain drivers, etc) is it still decent/stable enough for gaming?

Best results so far for a V56: 1950-1975h/s @ 130-135w

1. Use stock bios

2. Use the custom power play table: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AsrdFd4FVQj_hU0lNZqgJaGeLffI

3. In Wattman, set voltages to manual, fan speed to at least 3000 (this might not be necessary), and OC mem to 975.

4. Use intensities 2016 and 1736

If this got you your highest hash/watts.. feel welcome to donate to my XMR address: 4JUdGzvrMFDWrUUwY3toJATSeNwjn54LkCnKBPRzDuhzi5vSepHfUckJNxRL2gjkNrSqtCoRUrEDAgR wsQvVCjZbRzX7Z35FpEg29UmnBp

foundational work credit goes to hellae but I optimized it a bit more than his latest recommended setup: https://www.reddit.com/r/MoneroMining/comments/74hjqn/monero_and_vega_the_definitive_guide/?sort=new

its briked. do not use. its modified bios 56 or stock 64.

What about frquency settings in wattman? What voltages should I exactly set in wattman?
also in your .reg file title it says vega64, do I need to use 64 BIOS for this or did you mix something up vega 56/64 naming?
Thanks for your effort

Like step 3 says, overclock the wattman mem to 975 (and leave the core clock as it is). Leave the voltages set as they are but like i said set the voltages to manual instead of automatic (clicking manual will set them to the settings the power play table uses from step 2). No you don't need the v64 bios! that's what it was designed for but I'm getting the best results using it with the stock v56 bios.. You can try this with the v64 bios but I got worse results that way

As in it doesn't boot anymore after trying my method??? I have an MSI v56 and Gigabyte V56 and both of them have worked great so far with my method (stock bios with V64 power play table)

The power tables for V56 and V64 look different. You can see even the number of entries is different. Don't you have any problems ?

isnt using bios 64 settings for a 56 bios a Little risky?
is it running stable for longer periods of time?

I actually thought I read someone else say they tried stock V56 bios with the V64 power play table and it worked for them before I initially tried it and I didn't realize there was any risk! guess I got lucky that I didn't brick my 2 cards and that it works so well. I am trying a power play table specifically for V56 now to see if anything is different results wise

So on my stock bios V56's.. I tried the v56 power play table instead of the v64 one i was using... and It didn't work well- I couldn't get any undervolt to work!

here is the way I got it: https://1drv.ms/x/s!AsrdFd4FVQj_hVPlABJFy7RtFcvV

it's an MS Excel spreadsheet you can customize your table and then it outputs the power play table reg file for you.. Please let me know if anyone gets an undervolt working using any V56 powerplay table

There is no big difference in mining calculators for monero and aeon.

better don't fall into that trap. I mined it for two days - first day got 12 Aeon (network was under 10 Mhs). Day 2 - got only ~7. Network hash was ~11Mh/s. And currently the network hash is over 15.
With my 20k hashrate that should yield only around 6 AEON per day, what is definitely less than XMR. And when u add the luck factor, you can easily be under 4.

Also, the coin itself just looks bad - it has awful very hard to use wallet. The daemon uses all the ram in my PC, and its pretty much useless for quite a long time while its loading/saving and even inbetween.
I needed around 30 mins to make a transfer yesterday - you need to write and verify around 200 symbols to make a proper transaction. There is no copy/paste ! Also, its quite hard to check any past transaction, as chainradar for AEON is not updated since like 45 days.

And if you bank on huge gains in the future, I just don't see that happening, as it does not look like there is actual development. If there is - its at very very low level.
Sumokoin looks way more promising than AEON tbh.

Yeah i was just about to write that it isn't worth it. Better stick with monero. Which is already established good coin with potential to grow. Smiley

I hope I found why my XMR speed was dropping every day.
I examine logs and found that speed drop occurs at 12:25.
Then I went to Windows Task Scheduler and found 2 nVidia tasks scheduled for this time (nvidia profile updater and some telemetry shit)
I have mixed Vegas + nVidia rig so this was added by nVidia driver.
Now I disabled it ... will see ))

So examine carefully your energy saving settings (everything must be full on) and other software that can bug HBCC.

Thanks. I've noticed the same thing and have disabled these tasks from running. Hopefully this resolves it!

In case it help someone, I noticed hashrate was droping when teamviewer was closed, even if I have a HMDI dongle.
So I have to let temviewer open to enjoy stable maximum hashrate.

Sobfar I've tried mining both ethereum and no ero and finding better profit in Monero same as most people.

Rig setup is 4x Vega 64 on windows 10

Ethereum best results 38.5mhs @ 1200core/1100mem/power-20%/templimit60 u
Using latest AMD drivers pulling 750W from wall. I find one card is always buggy tho and has to run slower than the other 3 so 1200/1085/-10%power. It's not the card however as I've swapped them around and it's a different card each time I reset the system

Monero beat results are 1850hs dipping to 1650hs after one hour cant get the speeds to remain at the higher speeds.
Using 1200core/1020mem/-5/7%power/ temp to 62
That's using blockchain drivers and 2 threads per GPU.

I've found for ethereum the standard drivers are.much better for the cards and profit margins, blockchain drivers on ethereum result in 1100W+ power draw for an extra 2-3mh per card. And the cards run much harder on the BC drivers.

For monero though blockchain drivers are defo the was to go.

Gonna try zcash out next day or two to see the results

If you feel comfortable doing it, the softpowertable mod that's discussed in this thread will allow you to have more control of voltages on the blockchain driver. Sustained 1900+ hash per card at 130-150 watts on monero is outlined a few pages back.
