Is it a sort of a disease? Now all the coins are going hybrid POW/POS and implement them masternodes?
Syscoin is testing MN on the testnet soon and I can see Sidhujag's hand in all this Wink
Anyway.... I have to admit I am a sentimental guy, I have lost a lot of BTC on Quark but I would like to see this coin progressing.

Has the inflationary model been changed or it remains at 1.5%?

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

I would like to see Sidhujag hand in qrk for sure that would cause me to x10 my investment in this.

However of course quark could not be left as it was there was basically no incentive to mine it and the chain was insecure.

the planned updates should bring quark up to date

Quark v0.10.6.1 - POS/POW hybrid for Quark

https://github.com/quark-project/quark/releases/tag/v0.10.6.1

POS parameters:
- 3.5% pa POS interest
- 30 days minimum stake age
- Activates block 4937000 (est 25 Nov 2017)

POS staking is enbled by default. To prevent staking use -reservebalance=x (where x is amount to reserve for non-staking) or -staking=0 parameter.

Upgrade notes:
- Backup your Quark data directory before upgrading (in particular your wallet.dat)
- A database reindex is required the first time Quark 0.10.6 is run on an old installation, e.g.
   run qt with:  quark-qt -reindex
run daemon with: quarkd -reindex --daemon
or click OK on the prompt to rebuild database.
Note: This can take a few hours.

Currently at 4934543.
So just a little longer to go.

I haven't noticed any difference so far.  How can you see if it's staking?

The Quark design (real scalability) will enable it to be the "go to" coin over the next couple of years. Very exciting times  Kiss

New version is requesting a database update. Any Idea how long this will take?
If the answer is, a long time, Is a bootstrap file available?

While I'm at it.... The prime quark website listed on coinmarketcap quark.cc is still advertising version 0.10.4.5
Has someone asked them to update, or is this a split in version support?

There are currently issues with POS minting on mainnet. Although we tested extensively on testnet, unfortunately issues were only found when activated on mainnet. We are investigating these issues.

In the mean time it is recommended to run 0.10.6.1 with staking disabled (using the staking=0 option), or to download 0.10.6.2.

Quark 0.10.6.2

- Disables POS minting by default
- Disconnects pre-fork peers

Looks like under 7 hours for me. Drives just about ground themselves to death. I suggest increasing your cache size before you begin this.

Unable to find any status on POS generation. No mention in either help listing or command-line options.
Tried looking at the Debug log. It was BIG 1.11Gb That's right Gigabytes. Imposible to view at that size with normal text editing tools.

No wonder it's been so damn sluggish starting up. (Starting with an empty log now).

WooHoo.  Grin

Status: 33 confirmations
Date: 28/11/2017 07:57
Source: Minted
Reward: 12 079.66474 QRK (matures in 68 more blocks)
Staked: 100 000.00000 QRK
Transaction ID:

Staked coins must mature 101 blocks before they can be spent. When you generated this block, it was broadcast to the network to be added to the block chain. If it fails to get into the chain, its state will change to "not accepted" and it won't be spendable. This may occasionally happen if another node generates a block within a few seconds of yours.

Why has it only staked 100k? Is there a default limit on this?
