I'm having the same problem too and if you reset the password you can't make withdrawal for two days. I guess I'll wait for tonight looks like they are getting lots of traffic now.

Password reset for me was mandatory, at first login.
And i think it's a smart thing.

I was wondering, anybody else is also changing the 2factor auth key?
(deleting the old and creating a new?)

I'd like to, but I do not wanna mess with the site in this early days.
I do not know if the new key generation is fully functional and I do not want to be locked out of my account.

They have setup http://btc-e.nz but not http://www.btc-e.nz (newbies usually do not know how to setup www. access to a domain but pros usually do that the first).

I have tried to login with invalid password and was refused to login it so seems that they have legit database. Possible problem is that who ever could get btc-e database does not have actual login passwords but just password hashes. So I will wait for more details before my first login.

Fegbox chatters at http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=#fegbox confirmed that old 2FA works but that there are some issues with yahoo email accounts because btc-e require password change after first login with email confirmation and setting new 2FA.

UPDATE96025: USA IPs seems to have been blocked. Thats pretty mean to THEIR own US clients because US gov can access btc-e new site quite easily but regular average Joe that is having his own funds at btc-e can get just 0 bytes from btc-e.nz server. Couldn't they have setup separate page for US IPs? Or they just don't know how to set that up so they have just clicked on nice geo-blocking feature of cloudflare.

Someone got hold of the BTC-e user email database.

Quote
At the moment 55% of funds are available, 45% of funds will be converted into tokens, which we will redeem from you. Tokens can be bought and sold on our stock exchange. On September 14 we will start making money transfers to your wallets. Before September 5, you must fill out a form that you can download from the attachement, and send it to btce@xxx.xxx.xxx
Passphrase: btc-e

Both my email addresses that  I used for btc-e verification got that same email in the past 24hrs. it contained a suspicious .zip enclosure which I didn't bother to open.

I'm not sure that there was a database compromise (at least recently). My last BTC-E account was created in August 2016. I've never used its email address anywhere else, for anything. I haven't received an email to that address since I last made a withdrawal in July. Checked my spam folder. Nothing.

There's definitely some scammy phishing emails going around. But if the leak was from their database, it's probably pretty old. Maybe from the leak that was publicized years ago.

Where else have you used those email addresses?

I also received the email. And the email address is the flag out for me. Luckily i go online and find out this thread. It is started quite long time ago but it is still updated.

SUPER happy that btce team is up with the exchange. It is a great first step moving forward and from this incident, it makes me more confident in btce.

not surprising but a bit unnerving. can any US users confirm what happens when you try to log in? specifically, what happens if you logged in through vpn, vs. logging in from your normal US IP address and then logging in through vpn? are accounts being locked for logging in from the US?

i'm a bit scared to try logging in right now. i guess i'll try logging in through a vpn when i get home from work. i never white listed any IP address... hopefully logging in from canada or something will be okay. Lips sealed

UK VPN served me well. No issue. US IP doesn't get to a functional login page.

c'mon...
they cannot allow US IPs... otherwise FBI will have an excuse to seize the domain in a matter of days...
If you are from US, learn how to vpn... I'd say it a basic knowledge, especially if you already use more complex tech like the block chain ecc.

BTC-e is working hard, let's try to help them instead of pretending something absurd.
It is better if the average joe learns how to vpn, that BTC-e goes down again for the same reasons.

This was 100% expected. I'm just very glad that it is a basic geo-blocking that doesn't allow login at all. I thought there was a very slight but non-zero chance that US customers could log in only to find that their accounts were frozen.

The FBI could have seized the .nz domain a long time ago. I'm not sure why they didn't. My guess is it will be quite some time (years perhaps) before they make another move, given how slowly they move and how badly they botched the takedown.

Totally. It's fair enough that people are concerned about getting locked out of their accounts, though, and want to minimize the chances of that.

more FAO:

Translated from:

https://btc-e.nz/news/2

I have not credited the deposit in koins after 25.07?
All deposits before August 1 will be credited later (September 1-2), automatically, no additional action is required on your part. Deposits after August 1, we can not enroll, since they are under US control.

My account has been verified with you, will this verification be relevant?
The company that conducted the verification unilaterally terminated the contract, in this connection, the verification must be reewaken already on the new service.

Do not come letters to the post office?
Check the spam folder, most likely the letter came under the filter.

When is the opening of the auction?
If we are not put bureaucratic obstacles, then the auctions will be launched as early as next week.

When will the payment of available funds begin?
This process can be launched in the next few days, but we will let you know about it one day before the launch.

On the following list of questions you will need to write a ticket, the ticket system will be available from next week:
The balance is not displayed correctly.
The funds from MT4 and PAMM have not been credited.
Not suitable password, reset 2ph, disable the IP white list.
The funds that requested for withdrawal to payment systems did not come.
Account is blocked.

Looks like a few have asked admin's about this and the ticket system due for launch next week will be your best bet.

The Admins have been in the Russian chat for quite sometime answering questions.
