What is the technology that allows data from one app on your Android or iPhone to be collected by a 3rd party app? Aren't apps isolated from each other?

No not really, for example there are tracking features wich allow to control other apps. Further everything is (temporarily) saved on the smartphone/pc. The app just needs access (;

This is not new. Say you like to surf website regarding cryptocurrency and blockchain, you will have more advertisement from those subjects delivered to you. You see it in youtube, facebook and other websites that has on-site advertising. So these few days some of us may be bombarded by advertisement from a certain ICO. These apps got your data from the phone. They took it free. Imagine with Datum you get to monetize it. Brilliant really.

Cookies and tracing addons are plague in these days. I hope that with Datum I will be able to benefit on this and monetize it

The more expensive the bitcoin will be the better for us, all investors will  to go into forks and buy on the tokens on ICO.

Yeah, there must also be a private function, so that only Datum get the data. For companies like Facebook it would be difficult, but, for example, there are many possibilities to block google "Services" who are saving what you are doing

Probably it's pointless. In dollars, they will still collect the amount that can be collected. In addition, possibly eth will drop in price until the 29th. Now if there are unsold tokens, what will happen to them?

Well there has been a statement from Roger Haenni on Telegram but its from mid-August. He said Unsold tokens won't be burned. They will go to a reserve to be used for another funding round once the network goes live for example.

Yes im not worried about the ico, i really think that datum will raise a lot of money, ico start after the Bitcoin fork, and the market will be better for ico after it. And with that datum is a very bankable project with a huge target market and a lot of possibility and visibility. Datum will be a sucess I think.

I also don't like this proposal to put unsold tokens in a reserve and do another token-sale round. But as I said, it's quite some time ago since Roger made this announcement on Telegram. Maybe they changed their mind in the meantime. Would be good to have an updated statement from the team regarding unsold tokens.

Me too, i want in! Also, i don't understand the value of the collecting weather data. Doesn't that info come with my location anyway? Or have i misunderstood the point of collecting this data?

Yeah, because of the earlier mockups I thought Datum was mainly about social media data.

In the whitepaper they say something about DSensor SenseMaking. I just checked the website:

Dsensor uses Peer to Peer technology to apply the scientific method to data collected from sensors.

That makes it a bit more interesting to me than just Facebook and Google data.

IT actually all data you gather with your phone. IF you have an Apple device you could sell your HealthKit data. Or any other sensor data that is connected to your mobile.
It's actually a big market if you start investigating it.

My question was more like, can't you collect weather data automatically when you get my geolocation data? Is there a reason for selling that data separately? It would be like selling any freely available data pinned to some location. Since my phone doesn't have sensors for weather, but it downloads the information from somewhere. So i am guessing there's some reason for that picture that i haven't thought about.

I think the idea is that that sensor data does not come from the phone, but from separate hardware with a data connection to the phone. In this case it could be a personal, unofficial weather station. If you request weather data by location, you get from the nearest official weather station which might be miles away. If you wonder why people perform their own measurements, look up the citizen science movement.

I think this is just some proof of concept. I don't believe Datum will use weather data
Sensors are readily available on the internet for these kind of basic things.
Datum will yield a lot more when they use personal data like health and so on.
