Well, of course that could be possible but they stated right at the beginning that they don't need a soft cap because they are already backed by an Angel investor. So in theory they should have been able to work with whatever they raise during the initial ICO period.

I just had a discussion with a friend, he said he didn't believe in a social platform where people can also sell things. I replied by saying that for many platforms I didn't believe they would get big, like Facebook (because there were many forums/platforms before Facebook) or Instagram. So this opened my eyes. Never judge but do your research

I was around for the time that the internet started. I had discussion with people how email is different from internet. Most people I know never thought they would need to sent an email. We have letters right?
Technology comes first, people have to adapt.

A better mouse trap can always be built. Sometimes people don't realize then need something until they use it.

I always try to teach that lesson to people. I've read that it took over 100 years from the invention of the automobile to the first paved roads that changed the infrastructure of the whole world. When the infrastructure improved, the technology took over. People would no longer ride horses, but cars were the new standard. With crypto we need as many projects as possible to change infrastructure for the regular people, only then will it start being used by the common folks and not the nerds.

We are witnessing a kind of revolution not just with Soma but all crypto project and in every revolution there was a huge part of skepticism involved. Some people are afraid and dont understand the change and the percentage of population involved in crypto is still low, but i am sure with time most of them will change their way of thinking.
I hope Soma can be directly involved with that.

I think soma not like etsy because etsy is e-commerce as in general. Soma is decentralized social marketplace which facilitates trade inside the Soma Community through a rewarding system that enables beneficial collaboration of the community members. that's most likely the case, but if they failed to get what they needed, maybe there aren't people interested in this. we'll see when the extension is over.

in my opinion, they need a much better marketing campaign in order to get more people and investors to this project. i think, that the lack of a good marketing was the result in extending the ico even longer, besides the forks.

The greater the confidence and transparency that are built on the platform, the more buyers and sellers will be willing to trust and therefore offer more and more high-end and prestigious products, thus bringing prestigious buyers and trust and the strength of the platform will only grow.

I do not think the comparison with Etsy is that far fetched. Both target more artsy people, with vintage and handmade items. Etsy shows the users' purchase history so there is also a social element to it.

Yep, think you are right. I also talked with someone about Soma the last days and draw this connection to Etsy with a social aspect. Maybe this could be the marketplace for Etsy-user in future. I know there are a lot of artists and people who are interested in it who build big communities through Instagram, Facebook and also through Kickstarter etc. Maybe this is exactly something they need.

Yes soma will link buyer and seller and afford security with the social aspect of the platform. I even think that soma could make non crypto users come in crypto world to use the soma platform. Social marketplace is really a big business.

Who cares if they extended the time for this ICO, really? Maybe they are actually utilizing their resources towards development rather than marketing and needed a little more time to gather funds. The transparency that everyone has become so fond of is, in my opinion, is rarely provable and in most cases, it's just the dev teams telling people what they want to hear. So SOMA didn't make a big announcement, who cares?

You are right, I have also seen projects where the developers kept talking everyday, nowhere to be found after the end of the ICO.

On the other hand there have been several occasions where there has been a lack of communication from the team, especially after the end of their token sale. That silence causes a lot of uncertainty and a bad morale. As a result the price of the tokens have sunk dramatically. And we still do not know the status of their business.

You can see the effect of too little communication even in this thread. I have been quite cynical because there have been no answers to the questions raised in here. Then mere hours before the end of the sale the team pops in to say the sale is extended. I was excited about Soma because of the national interest they received, but if that behavior reflects the company as a whole they will have to impress me a lot from now on to dispel my doubts.

yeah it's gonna take a while before this will be ready. but a beta in q1 isn't that far away
