It's not working for me too. This is not the first time this has happened to the BTG web site, they should really get some more resources for there web site. I sometimes use this web site to check if a site is down or if it's just my connection, http://www.isitdownrightnow.com , and it says "Btcgpu.org is DOWN for everyone."

is this checksum secure? 782d0615b309231d9ec243407972b57a978c2640e19673f6a575347d8c69f53d it's from the qt.exe inside the installer not the installer itself
can someone check this please The correct hash is: 782D0615B309231D9EC243407972B57A978C2640E19673F6A575347D8C69F53D So, you have the correct bitcoin-qt.exe file. That said, you should really check the installer file. Not simply one file within it. If you still have the installer download, I would check that instead since it is the only known one to be hash checked. are you saying that the fake installer may have the same qt.exe?

The installer could have dropped the correct qt but it could have also dropped another special payload. Exactly. Why would I risk installing a copy of a wallet app just to check it for you. The problem is that the installer that is NOT the official release, there is no way of knowing what else it may have installed. Meaning.... it might have installed a completely legit copy of the wallet client, but along side it, it may have installed a JRAT (or any other remote tool) to gain access to your machine. Quite simply.... Check the installer you used. And, check your computer for viruses / malware, etc. Another example. This thread isn't even from the Bitcoin Gold team. Download the client from bitcoingold.org Same for a Bitcoin (BTC) client. You wouldn't download it from some thread. You download it from bitcoin.org

It's outrageous this actually has to be said, over and over again.

Was the Bitcoin Gold Github hacked, was it a screw-up by BTG, I guess we will never know as it is unlikey than BTG will admit to any failings on there part. If Github was hacked then this put all files on Github under suspicion, even the SHA-256 checksum could be fake too. "Please be aware that for approximately 4.5 days, a link on our Download page and the file downloads on our Github release page have been serving two suspicious files of unknown origin." https://bitcoingold.org/critical-warning-nov-26/

how to get btg for btc wallet file? Plenty of threads on the subject. But, you basically export your private keys. (Depends on the BTC wallet you're using.) Then import (sweep) into Coinomi. You can send me the BTC wallet and I will do it for you. That said, I suggest you never send someone your BTC wallet (even if no balance); if you do, make sure it's someone you trust. Does the explorer block work for anyone? I checked some addresses that I know have coins and just say "Error search did not find results"
Yes, several of them work. I think the problem you're facing is that you're putting in your BTC address and hoping it converts to a BTG address before it looks. There is also a couple of those as well. If you're looking just to convert a BTC address to BTG before looking on an explorer, you can go to... http://btg.evilbs.com (NOT your private key). Then you can use any explorer to check with your converted BTG address.

Everyone is very used to the traditional bitcoin ... And the cost of BTG remains questionable. Another thing that confuses me is that the cost of the asic processors is much more expensive ...

Just to add my personal opinion of the Wallet Fiasco... There's no evidence that GitHub has been hacked... So whoever posted the 'rogue file' must have had prior access to the account. And the reason for the hack is probably more compromising than the BTG team care to admit. Not dumping a Virus, or Rootkit, as they've suggested. The major weakness of HD (Hierarchical Deterministic) wallets is that they rely on a 'seed' value to generate every address that they are capable of. Compromise this, and you can access the private keys generated by every copy of the 'rogue' wallet. And then steal the contents of every address generated by that seed.

Isn't Bitcoin Gold meant to be free of Asic mining or did I miss something?
