If you are the impatient type, then go with ethereum because it fluctuates much faster compared to bitcoin. Eth does not completely realy on bitcoin's price. Eth can give you triple of your investments even it is just in the recovery period.

For now it looks like the Ethereum price changes just like bitcoin. more often than downhill. but basically altcoin it is more fluctuating because
Ethereum marketcap smaller. so it will be more profitable for you. but the risk will be much greater on Ethereum investments

I think you are new in this market. Try to research more on this market and find the coins you should invest On the other hand, you can invest on both bitcoin and ethereum, they are both good coins.
Personally, I do trading on BTC/Altcoin, so that I have just invested on BTC. For holding, I am investing on some potential altcoins that have products/application in the future.

Ethereum and bitcoins are both profitable but if you are going to compare ethereum and bitcoins then bitcoins will be obviously more profitable than eth because the demand in the market for btc is very high.

I think the two coins are good coins. and many people who use the coin, used for investing or trading day-to-day. I think it all depends on each person and depends on the initial capital you want to invest. if the capital is only a little, I would advise to buy ethereum. but if your capital is enough, better buy both. and I prefer to trade daily rather than invest long-term. by having a different type of coin, we can look for profit by seeing the development of coin with one another. and when one coin is at a favorable point if it is sold, then we can sell it. and wait for the other coin, if we think it is not worth the sale. with such a strategy, maybe we can earn an income.

I will say that both are favorable for long term investment and one can make huge profit after long term investment. However the profit from the Bitcoin will be more than that from the Ethereum because Ethereum is lesser in value than that of Bitcoin that is why the Bitcoin will give huge returns of our investments.

The current market of Bitcoin encourages us to invest and it is clear that we will get large quantity coins on investing low amount so this market costs us less.

You see both of them on the top list. The number 1 and number 2 spot. So I guess their position tells it all. They are both excellent to invest since the technology behind the two coins is being used by many. Their platform is different from each other. So I suggest investing in both.

You have create account of exchange first, and you can buy BTC and ETH there, after that use that BTC or ETH to trade with others altcoin. In the long term price of BTC and ETH still able to going up to 10 times more so increase the amount of that coin is good strategy.  And for the better use exchange that has stop loss order like Binance and Bittrex to avoid loss when the prediction wrong.
