Edit: Also, BiblePayFaucet.com has been down for a while. Perhaps updating this page https://www.biblepay.org/freebbp/#faucets to reflect that?
I should've posted when I decided to take it offline but whatever. This forum has been a mess with petty shit that I don't want anything to do with. I'm not gonna keep the site up it was never that well coded or optimized the server was way to expensive and it was still really slow. I also own biblepaypool.com and never did anything with it they both expire on December 26th 2018 if anyone wants to register.

I really liked your faucet SEO! Thank you for running it
For future tinkerers, was there a certain code base that you used?
This was my previous research on faucets below to anyone interested

I've got some ideas for it.. will see about grabbing the domains Smiley

The only way I could see it working is if it were tied to bitcoin, and then some conversion to BBP. Again, the problem with exchanges. The hop from BTC to BBP would have to be transparent.

Frankly, I think this, like finding merchants to take BBP directly, is something that may work down the road, but feels premature to me. The project needs a much bigger base to take this step. It feels like we're trying to skip steps, but I'm not sure what the next step should be.

Sorry, I think it's a case of "can't get there from here".

You don't need to apologize.. Can't change the facts!

I can see your points,  hopefully we can find something in between.

Hi Everyone,

I have bought a considerable amount of BBP at c-cex, but since I requested a withdrawal the server went down for about 5 minutes I think, then it showed maintenance, and now it shows maintenance for BBP. It this normal? What's going on. :S

Withdrawal is not shown in history either, still says I have the coins in my BBP wallet.

Unfortunately you would need to contact the C-CEX support,  there have been no major changes/issues as of late so i'm not sure why they would be having issues.

Ok, if that was possible...

Im worried now, it seems to be a very shady exchange.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=418700.4400

Look at the last page for example, full of issues.

Thanks anyway.

EDIT: I have sold all my BBP back into BTC with quite a loss. It would be wise to not work with those guys anymore! They are scamming people all day (check link above). I think that has nothing to do with christian values!

I agree on the use case,  this is something we could use help in...
If you want to help us with that,  we could use someone to do Due Diligence on Debit cards for BiblePay, and/or finding a Christian merchant who sells bibles and would agree to integrate with us to accept BiblePay in their storefront.   These are projects on our roadmap, and even having some of the initial steps done would further our utility goals.   When the time comes, Rob offere dto help with the integration as well.  (I would offer whatever assistance I could.)

I doubt there is a merchant who will agree to take Biblepay, because no one really uses it as a currency.

I actually looked into the debit card on another project.

Here's a couple of articles with a high level view of debit cards.
https://www.entrepreneur.com/article/302266
https://cointelegraph.com/news/popularity-of-crypto-debit-cards-will-encourage-mainstream-adoption

Here's an article on crypto.com and their debit card.
https://www.cryptoglobe.com/latest/2018/09/100000-crypto-visa-debit-cards-to-be-issued-by-crypto-com/
https://crypto.com//en/cards.html

Here's one that connects to coinbase:
https://www.shiftpayments.com/card

This is one of the most popular cards:
https://bitpay.com/card/

Here's a comparison of different cards:
https://www.cryptowisser.com/debit-cards/

Every card I can find is hooked to bitcoin, bitcoin cash, or Litecoin. There arn't any from a project this small. The only option would be to find a bank who in someway wants to sponsor and do the card through them. Again, quite unlikely.

Thank you for starting the research.  We can't enter into the due diligence for either project with a defeatist mentality.  We have to realize that it is possible, and we have to incrementally find the partner that likes us, schedule some time with them, make a sticky deal and then integrate when we meet the requirements.

I was envisioning - for either project - maintaining a spreadsheet - of every partner you contacted and finding the requirements, and explaining our unique situation until you have it sorted by best possibility.

For debit cards for example, the key is finding any community - as an altcoin - that has integrated with a debit card.  Finding out if there is a roadblock in using the visa or mastercard model (still, as there was previously).  And finding out if any generic debit cards or credit cards exist (they do, some are cleared by strange banks - that are not visa based).

Start with this web site:

https://uquid.com/altcoin-debit-card

In Uquid I see a lot of alt-coins integrated at one point in time.  But you would need find out if these are visa agreements, what the roadblock is, and if the entire system is halted then find an alternative to uquid - based on altcoin integration.

The similar process needs to occur as a separate project for storefront sales integration.  There are altcoins that have integrated with merchants.  We just need to find one that sells a cheap product that is willing to piggyback biblepay on as "one of the alts".  Yes, they may require Y amount of volume per day.  Once we have all those in a spreadsheet, we can then come back to the community with a monthly report - and talk about our lowest barriers.

Eventually, we will crack both with perseverance - as long as we shoot for a top50 exchange (possibly only requiring Cryptopia - possibly) and $2K per day volume (yes it might require more than that, but I'm just giving examples).

Interesting things to follow from Sundar Selvaraj:

Sundar predicts Bitcoin will "plunge" on Jan 1, 2018:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlPc_FCyjKA&itct=CA8QpDAYBSITCNKW07mC5dkCFaGAwQodszcC5jIHcmVsYXRlZEiosuPty9z35tAB&app=desktop
Result:  Bitcoin plunged <-- This is potentially over, unless plunge means going to zero

Last Christian revival to start in Austrailia before coming of Christ:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYB_QYLT5yQ
Result: http://www1.cbn.com/cbnnews/cwn/2018/november/i-cant-believe-this-is-happening-thousands-experience-gospel

Let's keep watching as a Christian community if the gospel starts being spread from the East to the West (as the sun rises in the East and light makes its way westward), Sundar says - the gospel revival will travel West, meaning that we would see the Philippines, Asia, Russia, Europe, Africa, South America and finally America hit with a revival.

That's an interesting site you linked. When I went to the card links, it shows this message:
"Sorry, we do not provide our services to US citizens and residents of the USA whether located on US territories or abroad.

We do not offer any of our services to US citizens and permanent residents."

Interesting, you accuse me of a defeatist attitude. Well I guess that's a self-fulfilling prophecy. I don't think I'm the person to continue this line of inquiry, maybe you can find someone with more faith..

BTW, I've only every been pointed to as a realist. But I'm sure there's someone with a more cheery disposition that you can delegate to.

I'll be watching this project with interest. Thanks for reading my post.

I'm sorry it came across that way - I'm not intentionally being personal.  I was referring to your original summary on the matter - that its of no use, there is no hope, end of story.

I went on to point out that Im looking for someone to handle it as a long term project - as I know its possible.  I know of altcoin debit card integration projects that happened.  I believe most of them died because of the VISA agreement.  Im sure some of this also has to do with new ICOs, and Howey tests (crypto-security classifications) adding regulatory requirements to some of the deals - thats why you see Uquid closing off the US market.

I'm just saying this isnt a ping-pong endeavor where I ask for help and its done in 15 minutes and the board knows about everything.  This requires professional due diligence and its possible.

Im not accusing you personally and Im sorry I came across that way.

This is basically a project that takes 100 hours and it might not be easy.  The answer might end up being : Biblepay, you need $3K per day exchange volume - then we will list you.  With that being the end requirement then we take it to the community and say hey guys, we must ramp up our volume, lets create a campaign to do that, etc.

Wow, the voting is closed on removing the team requirement without any exceptions!

Even Gridcoin and Byteball members can get BBP now (of course purchasing some BBP first for the stake requirement), it seems.

Will this change be effective immediately, or are we going to wait for a wallet update or something?

The Team blacklist has been removed.

Although effective immediately, it takes anywhere from 1-24 hours for the sancs to fully work the old contracts out of the pipeline.

Thanks. Its hard to vote when we dont now much about POG. Yesterday here was request to explain this with simplier English how it will work.

Proof of Giving requires users to "give" to the orphan foundation,  and based on how much will put you in different mining "tiers"

Each tier will have a higher block reward (Money from PODC is moved into Block Rewards).   The "tier" mining reward is split  20% to miner that found the block,  80% to all in the tier.

Essentially you are joining a 20/80 pool,  each "Tier" has a mining advantage on certain blocks (details being hashed out,  if all others sleep during those or not).

There is some question/answers in this thread as well:
https://forum.biblepay.org/index.php?topic=319.0

Hopefully this helps,  if not let me know and i'll try again Smiley

You can vote on keeping PODC in place if you're more comfortable with it...

As for the orphans,  a lot of the superblock vote is going to bloom it seems this time around,  I think we are still above 10% of the monthly block.

I know the August superblock seemed to go to Masternodes, but Rob sold his own funds to cover the orphan budget, then got reimbursed...   Going forward I believe he agreed to keep them separate I have not monitored this.

The proposal rewards are given to the proposals voted in,  if you have a masternode you should vote! Smiley

I just got back from a family visit near the East Coast, and combined some of the feedback I received.  Honestly I didn't expect non-computer literate people to use BiblePay at first, because I always considered the adoption problem a cryptocurrency barrier of entry, but after this trip I changed my opinion on that.  Because a few of my coworkers from my very early career have decided to download wallets.  Here is the feedback I received:  We are too complicated for my parents to understand, my coworkers, my prior coworkers-truck-drivers, and for my home family (they won't talk about RAC or BOINC here either).

So I'm looking at this saying:  I believe the problem is that we are completely new-user unfriendly and anti-mass adoption.  If we want to appeal to the masses, we need a platform people can install, use and then talk about the actual wallet features for Gospel.

I also like how POG aligns with Christianity.  You have to consider giving in order to receive.

Smiley

Yes - starting last month everything is kept in separate dedicated accounts and Im no longer borrowing early to help smooth out the price (in attempt to be above reproach).
