I'm curious why we're not using discord as much as other coins. It works really well for one-on-one troubleshooting and the devs can have their chat room also.

As a point of reference, 100% of the people I've talked to about this coin and getting involved had the same feedback:

The ANN thread is a mess, a complete nightmare to try and understand what's happening.

I tend to agree, and don't push back against this viewpoint because it appears valid. It makes it appear that the project is spinning out of control I think.

Go back and read the last 5-10 pages. Go do it. It's incoherent and disorganized.

I'm not here to criticize, but why is it almost every other coin uses Discord in the correct way? I feel people shouldn't clog up an ANN thread with "I need help" posts. And the devs don't need to muddy the waters with technical conversations that would be handled different in Discord.

Think about your audience. If we're just having technical decisions to add pages to this thread, it will show.

It's like we're just thinking about how cool we can make things, and have completely forgotten how to have a discussion that a new lurker might have at least a slight chance of understanding.

If we don't understand our audience, I believe we deserve to lose them.

1.1.8.5b is already in Ubuntu Launchpad. (PPA repository)

Remember that it just adresses a crash in a RPC (console) command , so it doesn't make any difference to 1.1.8.5 in terms of chain consensus .

after upgrade,still crashed

I just checked the windows version (www.biblepay.org) works and does not crash, maybe its the PPA version?

It would be nice to know the OS+version used, and how it was installed. Also what kind of "crash" is the user experiencing (if there is a message to be seen on console, a segfault line, or nothing).

Unfortunately, "still crashed" is not enough information to narrow down the problem.

ubuntu 16.04
ubuntu 18.04

installed by your steps on wiki

after updated and upgraded to 1185 and started biblepayd --daemon crashed after starting....
tried deleted all things like before togos wrote

tried start with reindex

still crashed after syncing blocks

via PM i can to send to you root access and you can check it

crashed, that you see nothing... tried getinfo and

thanks

If this crash is unrelated to executing 'getdifficulty' then its probably not the PPA issue (maybe), in this case I would try:
rm blocks -r
rm chainstate -r
rm gov*
rm mnp*
rm mnc*

Then restart.  Sometimes the governance object cache being out of sync with 0 blocks makes the wallet do all kinds of unexpected things.

tried deleted 3 times all in folder except .conf and wallet.dat ....

started wallet......
when im started npm start, then crashed

Togo=can you to check it via putty/kitty where can be problem? thanks

If anyone is running the new PPA version, please do a 'getdifficulty' and tell us it does not crash Smiley.

Working just fine. Smiley

It seems like I missed a PODC payment today, although my wallet was definitely on the correct chain the whole time and is constantly sending out PODC updates. Could this be related to the chaos in the blockchain? Sad

Can PoDC updates take from Tithe balance if there aren't other any balances to take from. For example, your RAC goes up, so you need to stake more in the PoDC update transaction.

If the coins were created with 'exec bankroll' denominations, the PODC won't spend those coins; otherwise it will try to.

Speaking of that I think its time to create some bankroll denominations for testing in prod.

As a last resort, you can copy wallet.dat to wallet.bak, then restore an old wallet from the \backups folder, just to see if its the wallet file is corrupted.

If you do this ensure you get your entire balance back.  (If you don't you have to salvage the old wallet file).  You probably will get it all back.

Just like to point out here that running an explorer is a lot of work - even if it seems like it shouldn't be. Slovakia is a pretty technical person, from what I can tell, and although several other people worked to get an explorer up and running for a while (and yes, I was one of them), it does take a lot of monitoring and maintenance - leading to reactions like Slovakia's above (NOT calling anyone out, just noticing a trend - as Slovakia originally started an explorer out of frustration with the availability of the existing ones at the time). Let's appreciate the effort that people put in to keeping the community systems up and running. Thanks to the owners and curators of the BBP pools, explorers, and websites.

Great to have you back!

Yes pool.biblepay.org is on the 1f0d* chain and all my nodes on the 1f0d* chain also.

(This is the one with 1.1.8.5 > 98%).

Capulo, the reason the other chain is getting rewards is because all transactions and mining still occur on both chains.  The one with more work ultimately wins.

Just verify this hash matches:
getblockhash 99435
20:32:25
1f0d42e4696112cd70b57cce11d323012641e33cd81e6db4800b358b92148dd4

If it does not, rm files and restart.

If you lose any solo mining rewards its because they were mined on a fork.

Where do we find that hash to check against, say, incase we wanted to check it at any time?

the command is

Code:
getblockhash

when you type 99435, biblepay qt wallet gives you the hash of that block number.

This is a common way to check you are on the same chain (same page).

The discord invite link is here:
https://discord.gg/RK8n4xh

I'll make an effort to offer help then send people to Discord for more help.

But you also realize that for forum visibility and SEO purposes, having text on the forum helps get exposure for new users.

I would humbly ask that it actually gets used then.  Nothing in the discord announcements about this fork, about POG, about anything important.  If POG starts in 2 days, where is it announced?

Hi!, I have wallets in diferent block height. Wich one is the right one? How do I find out the correct block the chain is in?

Just verify this hash matches:
getblockhash 99435
20:32:25
1f0d42e4696112cd70b57cce11d323012641e33cd81e6db4800b358b92148dd4

If it does not, rm files and restart.

If you lose any solo mining rewards its because they were mined on a fork.

Where do we find that hash to check against, say, incase we wanted to check it at any time?

the command is

Code:
getblockhash

when you type 99435, biblepay qt wallet gives you the hash of that block number.

This is a common way to check you are on the same chain (same page).

I think he is asking where he can find correct hash in the future for his next check.
